****I’ve touched on this subject before and no one seemed to understand what I meant by “reverse toddler carry”. So I made a short video demonstrating the technique . And even shows how to transverse tight spaces like door ways. when you use this method 90% of the dolls weight is transferred straight to your legs and not putting pressure on your back. Unlike the “bearhug” method this way keeps her feet out of the way as your walking. You have a clear path for walking and seeing where your walking. Since this method recenters your balance it works well for going up and down stairs and since you can hold the doll against you with one hand it leaves a free hand to hold the hand rail for more balance . ****
Great video @Slayers You make it look very simple!

I also like your added detail of covering your doll’s wrists and fingers with a simple long sleeve top. Sometimes those little fingers can catch on some furniture or side of a door, but your method protects those delicate areas. Great illustration.
Brilliant !!
oooh I’m definitely going to have to try this out! I always dread the stairs with my girls, they’re not light weights
Thanks everyone. I hope this helps everyone to move their dolls easier and safer, might even lead to people getting them out more often for photos ![]()
Thanks for the reply HappyWabbit and welcome to the community.
Depending on the dolls weight, you have to be strong to do it with one arm. A method I like is a bit similar to yours, I call it the “grab ‘em by the pu$$y” method. Similar to your method but I have my opposite arm between the legs (usually with my hand on the bottom). I happily carry dolls up and down stairs with this method.
with her butt on top of your hip its not your arm that holds the weight her weight is transferred to your hip all you have to hold with your arm is her tight against you.
haven’t really thought to carry liek that, but I don’t have room to carry like that I normally just bear hug and lift that way I can easy fit between doorways and same time carefully not to poke the dolls butt wit the door handle.
Leaves a Free hand to carry a counterbalancing coffee mug

Looks good. Out of interest, how much does this doll weigh? I’m always cautious of silicone stretching where I lift my dolls.
Hello @HappyWabbit
I missed seeing you slip in here, sorry.
Welcome to the forum. I hope you meet many new friends here and have a great time getting to know us.

she weighs about 70 pounds
@dollface
Thanks, I’m happy to be here.
I did a Doll Carry post years ago on ODC. It was more for dolls that don’t stand on their own or are loose jointed. I use it on 100lb Sorcha too.
Basically it’s combination bear hug and bridal carry.
This is how I find it easiest, and you get some nice cuddles along the way ![]()
I used to do that with my Kimber I called it the Trump method
. Alas I can’t walk the length of myself now with the old asthma. Memories… Lol.
So glad I found this video. Superb trick, and so simple.
Thank you.
Í just tried ìt, does not work for me, Ì am too tall and my Real Lady ìs way too heavy ![]()
That sounds serious. How heavy is too heavy? My ladies weigh 27 and 29kg which is doable.
I usually wrap an arm beneath their butt when they stand and lift them up that way. (One at a time.)
