Yi Soo is a really gorgeous elf. Hilda’s happy to give her some tips, so that’s that, and Roisin waves at her big sister again.
I’m currently writing my 29th (seriously) Hilda the Wicked Witch book, and Roisin appears in it. If I have your permission, i’d like to add Yi Soo to the story too, for some real lessons.
Here’s where we meet Roisin for the first time in the story:
“This is Roisin Shadowmere,” Cissindri continued. “She’s an elf.”
“Obviously,” Hilda said. “The ears give it away.” She had not expected a tall elf cruising around here.
The elf didn’t respond to that. “You’re here for the ghost in the ear.”
“We are,” William said. “Do you know anything about it?”
Roisin shook her head. “Only that it’s there. And that it’s annoying. I can hear it scream when I’m close to her.”
“Not surprising with such ears,” Oona commented.
Roisin turned to the young witch. “What is that supposed to mean?”
Oona sighed. “It’s detailed in ‘Incomplete Anatomical Observations on Elves’, written by the magician Lysera Ashura. As it states on page three hundred and nineteen: ‘The shape of Elfen Ears makes them particularly receptive to hidden sounds when they’re not too distant.’” Oona frowned. “Maybe it was page three hundred and twenty. I need to check when we’re home again.”
All eyes were on her, and Roisin asked if she did that often.
“Do what often?”
Roisin said, “Recite books. I’ve never even heard of that book. And now I want to know why it’s incomplete.”
“I guess there weren’t any elves around who wanted to be opened to find out the details that are inside them.”
“Ah, yes. That makes sense.” The elf nodded. “I should check on my charge again.” Without another word she walked off.
