I see the benefits of AI however but all you create with it is “Artificial”. Using it for a fantasy, using it for your own pleasure is perfectly okay. But would not dare say it’s a picture of the physical objet of a doll anymore.
Would you buy a doll if a manufacturer only showed you AI generated fanatasies? Here in this forum doll enthusiasts meet and gather so much information about dolls to make an educated decision what to buy.
If somebody uses AI to document his life with his doll, create pictures, clips, voice chat it is all fine and if you do so you definitively know you do so. Others may not necessarily know it. Just had that happen on another forum. This is why use of AI is okay but it should be clearly stated that it IS AI.
If you’re using AI (or FaceApp to add fake smiles), you should flag that. Firstly, so it is not misleading. Secondly, so people who do not like that stuff can avoid it. Maybe we need a new Category for AI stuff (like they have an AI sub-forum on TDF.) Or a toggle to make AI stuff invisible (like on MLDC.)
I’m here to see beautiful dolls photographed with love by their owners. I think we’re all here because of dolls, nobody joins a doll forum for AI pictures.
Ironic concept insisting on no fakery in the context of a forum for people at least considering acquiring a fake person (doll). Not that it isn’t practical. A disclaimer “No AI was used” or “AI used to enhance … fill in the blank” would be useful and help keep things honest and transparent.
I have not experienced any examples that I know of where I was mislead in a forum. In another direction this topic touches upon I do think a lot of people could benefit from shared tips on photographing inanimate objects in a manner which brings them to life**. Sure, there are people into dolls as dolls but many people want to bring out the life rather than the doll aspect.
I am put off by manufacturers and vendors who present dolls in less than lifelike contexts. I personally am only interested in dolls so real they do not look like they are dolls. Factory pictures can be very revealing. They are raw and no one has taken the time to dial in a realistic presentation. I frequently do double and quadruple takes noticing the difference between the doll sitting on the gurney in a factory and the example of the model used to sell the doll.
AI is so new people have not had time to comprehend how to scrutinize and recognize it. But it is not that different than photography and its debut or even realistic painters. Many people still exclaim “that looks like a photograph” when they really mean to say it looks so real and true to life. The viewer would not have had photography to reference when painters first achieved realism and the bar was different. But all new technology that can be mistaken for reality goes through some of these same stages we are seeing with AI.
You would think it would be easy at this point in history, just apply the same framework as done with other approaches to visual expression. Use disclaimers and implement rules which serve to warn and educate the unknowing public.
** I am speaking of things like getting the eyes in the right position so they appear to have consciousness focused on this world and fine tuning poses to reduce/eliminate the things that scream “Doll!” in a pose when photographing the dolls.
my 2 cents. No AI used for my photo’s. But obviously i like creating the videos of them being sexy or even naughty. I dont shoot for manufactures so no one needs to take my AI video’s as a sales pitch. All for fun and entertainment. I have recently started shooting with Cannon and prime lenses such as 16mm and 30mm. I also have used 50mm but my space is too confined. Sure you may think my photo’s are AI. Go ahead. but they are pictures of the actual doll. I still value the art of the photograph. I have to set up scenes inside my RV and that takes some time. I do edit for color contrast etc. Even my reddit is 99% pictures of my dolls. AI does not give you more followers. It’s actually the opposite. Most guys like the real pictures. Those bring more followers and people liking and asking about the dolls. I always tag as non promotion and personal pictures. If that brings more peeps to like dolls, so be it. I’m not in it for sales. Im in it for the friends, the love of the doll and the Art of the female body. Oh and i do love the female body
I’ll add that I don’t use Ai to help people decide what doll they want to buy, but I have been completely transparent with answering what is Ai and what isn’t when asked in my posts. I agree with what Oscar posted, it is fun, I enjoy it, I literally get to take what’s in my imagination and create a video or another world from it, I can even put a cowboy hat on anything I want . I get to combine Ai with something else I really like, sex dolls! and I take the odd pic of my doll from time to time and post it without edits, just to share her raw beauty. I agree with Shunt and LD_Shopper, there could be a flag with each post that defaults to “no Ai used” and when Ai is used, we can click it to switch to “Ai content”, just like on social media when posting in X, Facebook, Instagram, etc. I also agree that manufacturers should not be using Ai for sales as it makes their product misleading, it’s already tough enough when you’re drooling over the studio quality photo’s of their dolls and the doll shows up looking nothing like the picture at home. Thankfully it’s not always that way, Elara looks similar to her manufacturer website pics, but I believe that is due to the exceptional quality put into manufacturing her.
I’m going to keep using Ai because I like it, it’s not for everyone, and that’s ok, I get to share my passion, creativity, and a version of my doll, if she were a non-static part of my life. I also got to take those who followed, on a dramatic adventure with the last Ai story I created, I really enjoyed that
