Unboxing - Volks Dollfie Dream Hatsune Miku NT

NSFW warning. Please be aware, there are pictures of a naked BJD so maybe NSFW depending where you work.

Way back in January I entered a lottery for this limited edition BJD. I don’t win lotteries or pretty much anything so I thought, why not. The lottery ran for 2 weeks to give everyone who wanted one time to enter.

A couple of weeks later they announced the results and in my inbox was an email from Volks with the following,

So I’d won something. I paid for the doll and shipping that same day. Now began the wait for her arrival, it was stated shipping would commence sometime in fall. Sometime in September it was announced they would start shipping on 4th October and sure enough, that day I got the email with the tracking number.

I was peeved they had gone for the cheap option and shipped with EMS. 2½ weeks it took them. I’ve been spoiled by all those 3 day DHL deliveries.

So today, the 22nd October she finally arrived and I decided to put together an unboxing thread.

No signs of damage on the outer box.

On opening it, I find another plain brown box.

and when I open that one, there’s another.

Please spend a few minutes enjoying the artwork on the box, it’s unlikely we will see it again ::slight_smile:

The box holding the goods slides out. Hello Miku.

Miku is in a bag and held in place on card backing with a couple of straps. Underneath her in the bottom of the box are her wig, clothes, accessories and her instruction booklet.

and the other side. Also in there are another set of hands.

unpacked Miku

after carefully moving all her joints to check for damage, I sat her down.

I had bought some other Miku things while I was waiting for her. This version has curly hair which is alleged to be hard to maintain so I got the standard straight version for back up.

An official Miku protective bodysuit. Rumours are that her black socks can stain.

The following outfit is also what I consider high risk for staining. Miku’s vampire outfit.

and that’s the unboxing done. My next step is to dress her. I was going to dress her in her default outfit then change her into the vampire get up but since Halloween is so close I might go straight to the vampire outfit.

While I’m making up my mind, now might be a good idea to check out the comprehensive instructions.

I didn’t get very far reading this, even with my glasses on. Maybe its time I learn Japanese.

I’ve not started dressing her so I will update this thread with that later. You can laugh at me fighting with her skin tight nylon bodysuit while I wear cheap protective cotton gloves that are too small for my hands.

ok, time to dress Miku. Ive opted for her default outfit. Because I’ve heard her black socks stain I have decided to put her into the bodysuit. Done this a few times with other Dollfies and it can be a battle. To make things easier I had to remove Miku’s head, and both hands including the wrist joint.

after 10 minutes I’m reasonably happy with the results. Downside to bodysuits is creases and wrinkles, plus the added layer can cause problems with anything tight fitting.

it fastens at the back with press studs. This was a surprise as the standard versions have a zip and also go higher than the neck so they sort of tuck in under the head, except the zip gets in the way. This one doesn’t extend so far.

Next I put her pantsu on

then her top which simply fastens up with press studs.

now if I’d followed the instructions I should have put her skirt on before the top so that was next. Easy to get on with a zipper up the back.

then I put her tie on. It fastens round the back with a hook and loop.

now I was ready to put her wrist and hands back on. The loose ends of the body suit get stuffed up the inside of the arm.

after putting her hands back on, I took them off again leaving the wrist joint in place. No way were the arm covers going to go over her fingers. The arm covers are 2 parts, a white liner with the black mesh sleeve.

these were a proper pain to get both on. The time I spent on these was over half an hour.

I studied the instructions for help. I like how they have a red box with the word POINT in it, then proceed to explain everything in Japanese lol. I’m none the wiser as to what point they are trying to express. I can’t complain about a Japanese product lacking English instructions, that’s on me.

next, the socks. Checking the instructions, there’s another point to note. It shows that the socks are left and right, a square beneath each knee and the square on the side faces outwards.

next I decided she could have her head back. She seemed pleased about that. I didn’t really need to take it off but it prevents damaging the make up while I’m moving the body about while dressing.

Now I was going to put her shoes on. Since I had put an extra layer on with the body suit, it was a fear I had that her shoes wouldn’t fit due to this. They didn’t. Dollfie shoes are my pet hate with the brand. They’re normally poor quality P leather and more often than not, stain toes black. If only I had some plain white socks to go under the black ones I could do away with the body suit and they might fit.

Now shoe less, I took Miku to raid the mini wardrobe to find some alternative footwear. She found these boots and their current owner was happy for her to borrow them.

when searching in the wardrobe, hung on the back of the door I found these…

a pair of plain white knee high socks, just perfect for placing under black ones lol. Not wanting to start again, I pressed on to the wig…

Dollfie wigs in the past have caused me a lot of problems, I don’t look forward to fitting Dollfie wigs and this one has a page and a half dedicated to it in the instructions. So I read looked at the pictures and then went for it.

it said to leave the net on until after her headphones and hair clips were in place, but I didn’t get that memo and proceeded to stand her up, remove the net and watch her awesome locks cascade around her.

The wig sits really well and was easy enough to get on. Lastly, I put the headphones on along with the hair clips. It was a bit awkward, I could see why it was best to leave the net on. At that point, after a bit of hair faff to try get the style right, I decided I was finished.

It took almost 3 hours just to dress her with a couple of breaks in between. Kicking myself for not finding those white socks earlier but the body suit will be needed for the vampire outfit so I can change to those after she’s worn that.

There will be more to see of Miku, I will take some proper photo’s in the near future and post them in my main thread. Hope you enjoyed the post and maybe learnt something along the way.
