Nice dude. My clothes are nowhere near that level. Ive been sewing as a hobby for two years. Mostly simple stuff. I still haven’t learned how to sew a hem on a curve. Can you offer any tips or advice?

It looks like you are doing good with the shape of the bodice. Some girls are quite big on the bust which can be a problem with standard patterns. I started with mini-skirts on the basis that they should be relatively simple (at least until i got to pleats).
Regarding hems; when i started it was a case of lots of pins before sewing. Even then it is hard to keep things even. These days i overlock the hem then fold then edge up using the overlocking as a guide before sewing the hem. That at least makes it easier to keep a consistent hem width.

So you overlock the edge to keep it from fraying then fold and sew it to make the make the hem?

Yes, that works well with a seam allowance width hem. Other hems such as blind hems can need lots of pins to get them right before sewing.

I learned the hard way so many times on those first dresses that useing pins was critical. I tried to freehand everything and the seams looked liked rollercoasters. lol. Making pleated skirts are fun. I always have to reference a video online when make one. This young lady doesn’t make videos anymore but she is very talented.

Jack_Millie, that was a good video, Ì like that her sewing machine make the buttonholes, Ì use old machines and Ì do the buttonholes by hand, thanks for sharing
