The True North Clan

Thank you! Yes, I certainly do! Dolls make my world go around these days!

I’m still playing catch-up on this site and posting ‘the story so far.’ This latest story was from March of this year. There’s lots more to come before we’re caught up and plenty of that is minis. They’re just so much easier to pose!

November Photo contests!

Restraint
I was the host of this contest. This wasn’t an entry but it was used as a Bump photo.

Being Sneaky
Saffee and Evey in “Infestation!”

“I know you can’t hear them with your pathetic round ears, but I can. They’re in the walls, wanre. They’re in the ceiling. They’re in the attic. They’re everywhere! It’s a damn infestation! They’re making me paranoid and they’re driving me insane! You need to take care of them,” complained Arachne.

“What? But how? If they’re in the walls how do I-”

“Cut a hole! I don’t care, but make it stop. Set a trap, or something.”

Knowing better than to argue with Arachne I went to do a little light shopping to get this project underway. Once Arachne pointed out a spot she always heard them I reluctantly cut a hole. I armed a trap and headed up the ladder to stick my head inside. She was right! There they were!

“What are you…? Do you expect us to step on that?”

“Come on! At least bait it with something. Go out and buy something nicer than what’s in your kitchen!” the two elves mocked.

My most expensive photo shoot to date! …Well, okay, the plumbers needed to cut the hole anyways.

I was the host for this challenge and I also took the next two as bump photos.

Veyronna’s Mourning

“Aldrea, wait! We need to wait for the others!”

“We need to push the attack! Come on!” urged Aldrea, her swords glowing with magic.

Veyronna looked at Trenii and grumbled. Trenii just shrugged. “Fine, but hold back! We’re far from the healers!” she pointed out.

Aldrea ran ahead and the others followed at a distance. As casters they weren’t meant to be on the front lines. That was Aldrea’s job. A couple arrows flew past and Veyronna instinctively turned in the direction they came from and returned a fireball.

As she did so she heard another noise behind her. She whirled around and saw Trenii had collapsed to the ground, an arrow protruding from her neck.

“Trenii!” she screamed, dropping her staff and moving to her side fast enough her hat fell off. “Healer! HEALER!” she begged but she knew that they were too far back. They probably couldn’t hear her let alone get here in time.

Veyronna pushed Trenii’s hands away from her neck and pressed her own hands against the wound, stabilizing the arrow to not make it any worse.

“Breathe! Just breathe! Help is coming! You’ll be okay. You’ll be okay! Stay with me! Stay with me, Trenii! Oh goddess, HELP!” she begged. She could see the life draining from her lover’s eyes. She could feel her grip on her arm loosening as she grew weak. Veyronna felt helpless. Despite her own magicks she was no healer. There was nothing more that she could do aside from try and stem the flow of blood and that wasn’t enough. Slowly, Trenii’s head tipped to the side as the last of her strength left her body. She was gone.

Veyronna’s screams of rage and anguish could be heard from across the battlefield.

The clan members who were listening to Veyronna’s story looked on in stunned silence.

“Veyronna, I am so sorry for your loss,” consoled Evey.

Glissa looked stunned. She held Aldrea in very high regard and thought her to be nearly flawless, except for her encounter with the drow.

“Thank you for sharing. I know that had to be hard to tell,” added Aneka. “It adds a lot of context to your behaviour towards her. I too am very sorry.”

“Thank you all. It’s okay. That was years ago now. I still miss her but I’ve had time to mourn. Mourning can be done alone but I never had a chance to vent my frustrations. Aldrea went on to be the hero of that battle. History tells that tale. It doesn’t tell the tale of a woman watching her lover die in her arms as she gets left behind.” Nor did it tell of the things she did to the archer that fired that arrow. “All I ask of all of you is to understand, and to let me deal with this in my own time, in my own way. I did not expect to see her here. I’m feeling a lot of emotions right now.”

Saffee put an arm around Veyronna’s shoulders. “It’s okay. Take all the time you need, and if you need someone to talk to all you have to do is ask. We’re a clan and we’re supposed to be there for each other. I’m here for you, Veyronna.”

The other women nodded and murmured in agreement.

… And Eat It Too

“No, I think I’m done,” replied Aldrea.

“I’m okay, thank you,” agreed Evey.

Saffee just groaned and waved her hand to stop.

“… I think I’m going to puke!” exclaimed Aneka, turning towards the sink.

“I believe I too am finished,” replied Veyronna.

“Well then, that’s just more for me!” smiled Glissa, slicing herself another piece off the cake.

“I must say,” added Veyronna, “that your insatiable appetite is most fascinating. If you were hollow I still do not know where it would all go.”

“You think it’s interesting now, just wait until you see all that sugar start to kick in,” said Saffee slowly as she clutched at her stomach.

A Very Rosebud Christmas

“I haven’t seen you leave your house in days! What brings you out here so early in the morning?” asked Rosebud with a smile as she greeted me from a tree.

“I came looking for you! What better time than a quiet morning when most people are busy at home?”

“I am a pretty good reason to come outside!” she grinned with a giggle.

“Are we going to play!?” she asked excitedly. Assuming the answer she vanished and a giggle was heard from a down the path.

I quickly spotted her hiding under a log. “Well, if I’m honest I don’t feel like getting snow in my boots… Let’s just enjoy the peace of the morning.”

“Oh, you just want to take my picture! Well… Okay.” She smiled and ran off down the path.

“I’d be lying if I said no!”

“Ahhhh… The first rays of the morning sun!”

“I thought you didn’t feel the cold?” I asked as I took a photo of the basking nymph.

“Of course I feel temperature! I just survive it far better than you humans do! The cold doesn’t bother me, but the kiss of the sun feels good on my skin.”

We kept going for a bit before Rosebud appeared at the side of the trail and stopped me. “Oh, you don’t want to go down there.”

“Why’s that? Animals?”

“No, gravity! You’ll never get back up!” she giggled.

“Heh. You’re probably right! Hey, come over here and hold this.”

Merry Christmas everyone!

The Computer

“A computer?” said Evey.

“So that’s what he was doing down here,” commented Glissa.

“This is fantastic! We can make use of this!” exclaimed Saffee.

“Turn it on!” cheered Glissa.

“Where’s the power button?” asked Aldrea.

“There! The tower is way up there!” pointed out Aneka.

“Glissa, do you think you can climb-” started Evey.

“Don’t worry about it, I got this one,” interjected Aneka, drawing an arrow from her quiver. She aimed at the button far above them and fired.

As always, her aim was true and the machine whirred to life.

The clan waited as it booted…

What appeared on the screen was enough to put a fright into all of them.

“AAAAAAAH!”

The image of Arachne’s face on the screen was unexpected but everyone quickly realized it was only an image and they shared an awkward chuckle.

“This is great! A way to communicate with the outside world!” exclaimed Saffee once they’d shared their embarrassment.

“Good, because our attempt to fix that tablet wasn’t going anywhere,” replied Glissa.

“I GOT IT TO START AND I CAME IN TO FIND YOU PUNCHING IT!” exclaimed Aneka, exasperated.

Glissa shrugged in shame. “…It wouldn’t connect to wifi and I lost my temper…”

“It’s okay, Glissa,” replied Evey calmly from the cup she’d fallen in. “We have this now. We don’t need the tablet. Let’s work together and get this thing figured out.”

Part 1

“Okay, I think it’s ready,” Sassy explained.

“That’s it?” asked Saffee.

“Of course! It’s easy for me being that I’m capable of being a portal myself! Go on, open it!”

Evey stepped forward and pulled on the front of the box which hinged open to reveal the black void inside. “Whoa…”

“What are you waiting for? Let’s go in!”

“Um, could you explain again just what it is that we’re looking at?” asked Evey, a little nervous.

“Of course!” she replied enthusiastically, continuing to be helpful even though she’d explained it already. “I have opened a portal, disguised as this box! Inside is nothing! Just space! Lots and lots of space! Instead of living and sleeping among these shelves or in the walls you can take up residence here! So long as no one discovers the entrance it will be safe and secure! Come on! Let’s check it out!” Sassy urged.

“Well, okay… I trust you. I’m aware of portal magic, of course, but I’ve never been through one.”

“This one doesn’t really have a ‘through.’ It’s a portal, but it’s more of a pocket than a tunnel I guess? I know portals but I’m not capable of making, like, really big and powerful ones. I mean, this is big. But it’s really short. It’s all inside the house, but outside the house. But not like outside outside. It’s extra dimensional within this dimension? A space within a space, but outside that space. Do you understand?”

“Nope. No, not at all,” Evey admitted.

Nearby, Veyronna burst out laughing. Portals weren’t her specialty either but she had an understanding of the principle. “Oh, just go in Evey. It’ll be fine.”

Gritting her teeth, Evey stepped into the box. Saffee followed and Veyronna came over to join them.

Part 2

Inside the box Evey found herself feeling disoriented. She could see what appeared to be a surface but when she walked over to touch it she never quite seemed to reach it. “Okay… this is weird. Really weird. Is there an edge?”

“Well yes, but-” started Sassy.

“Perhaps I can help if I put it in different terms?” interrupted Veyronna. “This is a pocket dimension. It does have a definable space but trying to define that space would take far more effort than it’s worth. It will undoubtedly be far more space than we’ll ever need. Best of all, this is a pocket dimension created with the Mischief magic of Minx Mansion. This dimension is alive. Not in the sense that you and I are alive, or how Sassy is alive, but it is aware of us and our needs.”

“She gets it! She gets it!” cheered Sassy.

“Even though this is space without space, spaces can be defined within it. As we need them, spaces can be defined. You may have a bedroom. I will want a place for my magic. Glissa will want a training space. We will all be able to have it. I hope that may make a little more sense for you?” she asked.

“I hesitate to say yes, but I think so?” replied Evey. “I’m willing to give it a try, and I’m sure it will make far more sense once I see for myself what happens.”

The conversation got interrupted by some commotion back in the storage room. The elves filed back out to see what was going on.

Some more than others. The more dolls involved, the longer it takes. But, it’s fun! I enjoy doing it. We’re still playing catchup though, this story is from April of last year. I’m trying to gain ground!

Worldbuilding

Part 3

“Okay, who keeps moving the Brick on me?” asked Glissa with some irritation in her voice. “I appreciate the trust and responsibility you put in me to keep it safe and the first time this happened I was scared but I found it in like a minute. After that it was kind of funny and I realized it was a joke and I always found it within five minutes. Now, I’ve been searching for an hour and I can’t find it! It isn’t funny anymore! Who’s doing this and where is it?” asked the young elf.

The clan members present exchanged glances and looked between each other but no one spoke up to take responsibility for the mischievous act.

“Well, someone had to take it! It didn’t just get up and walk away!” She exclaimed in frustration.

Saffee approached Glissa. “I trust that if someone was behind this they would have spoke up. I’m sure there’s a reasonable explanation for this. We’ll help you find it, Glissa. Now, where did you last leave it and when did you last see it?” She asked calmly.

“Under there, earlier this morning,” she gestured.

“The area has been quiet. There’s been no sign of the drow or her allies down here all day,” added Aneka who was in charge of the patrolling that went on in the basement.

Saffee nodded to Aneka in acknowledgement before looking under the toolbox. “Well, it is clearly not there. Okay, let’s all spread out and find it. Is there anywhere else you put it? Maybe you moved it and forgot?” Suggested Saffee.

Glissa shook her head. “No. I always keep it here so this doesn’t happen.”

“Pardon me,” interrupted an unfamiliar voice from the doorway. “Perhaps now is as good a time as any to introduce myself to keep Glissa from getting into trouble.”

Part 4

Everyone looked to the door and the intruder who had managed to sneak up on them all. She was tiny, even in comparison to the petite members of the clan, and appeared to be an elf by her pointy ears.

“I am Naida, and I am the brick you are searching for. I was not able to return quick enough for my absence to be noticed. I knew this time would come.”

“What are you, some sort of spy?” asked Aldrea suspiciously.

“No, she’s part of the Stuffs!” explained Sassy from Evey’s hip.

Evey held out a hand to keep Aldrea from advancing and possibly attacking. “Let’s hear her out.”

“What do you mean, you’re the brick?” asked Glissa.

“Precisely that,” replied Naida. The small elf suddenly transformed into the brick that had emerged through Sassy, then back. “I took this form because I thought it was one that you would understand best. Is there something else you would rather?”

26 s

“No, no, whatever you are comfortable with is fine by us,” replied Saffee. “But perhaps you could explain more about what exactly you are?”

“Of course. I am a physical embodiment of the magic of the Stuff, brought to life by the power of Mischief and animated through Creativity. You may consider me a construct of sorts and it would not be wrong to do so. Since my arrival here I have investigated the situation and worked to increase my presence in this place, creating a connection to the plentiful Stuff that is present here. I believe at this point that I am able to begin assisting you in your mission here. Please, would you join me so that I may introduce you to some of the other avatars?”

“Oh, Stuffs with personality! This is great!” giggled Sassy excitedly. “Let’s go!” she urged.

Evey took a step forward to leave and now Aldrea put her arm out to stop her. “Are you sure this is a wise idea?”

“Of course,” replied Evey. “Minx Mansion is an ally. Anything that originated there is a friend, not foe. I trust her completely. Bring your sword if it makes you feel better, but show total restraint,” she cautioned.

“It’s okay, Aldrea! The Stuffs are nice and they’re fun!”

The clan followed Naida out of the room to a nearby part of the basement.

Worldbuilding

Part 5

“Uh, that wasn’t there before,” commented Aneka who had done a sweep of the basement not too long before.

“Correct,” replied Naida as she approached it. “Avatars!” she called out as they drew near, “I bring the clan to meet you!”

Two elves turned to greet the clan while a third poked her head out of the window.

“Hi, I’m Azari!”

“Hello, I’m Sira!”

“Greetings, I’m Aira!”

The clan exchanged greetings with the tiny elves but Aldrea stayed back with her sword, none too trusting of these small constructs.

Once introductions were done Naida continued with explaining what they could do to help. “All of this Stuff is built with a human creation. On its own it is just plastic. Add a little Mischief and some Creativity and suddenly it can be anything that you want it to be. Now it is a fantasy structure, our home. But why not a chair? A table? A bed?” she asked, the brick behind her changing each time to something new before returning to the form of the inn.

38 really small

The Clan looked on, a little confused. How would a table help them against Arachne?

“What about a machine gun so we can be done with this battle once and for all?” spoke up Aldrea from the back.

Naida shook her head. “We are opposed to such violent things. Perhaps we could help you with a new sword?”

Aldrea looked offended. “You cannot think you can create a better sword than Moon’s Glow!”

“Perhaps not,” she admitted. “More complex items may be possible, but part of the creative process is the design and construction of something. The more complex it is, the more time and effort will be required. We avatars will help you.”

“So things like furniture can be made quickly?” asked Saffee.

“Relatively, yes. However, we prepared these items for you; gifts to help you settle more comfortably here. It is our understanding that you wish to create a portal that will allow you to connect to other places, such as Minx Mansion. We believe it is a worthy priority to guarantee a reliable connection to the strongest known source of Mischief.”

“Wait…” interjected Aneka, “right after the brick -you- arrived we faced a number of constructed spiders made of the same stuff that you are. The drow was somehow able to construct those and bring them to life. But you seem to have the capability to control this Stuff, correct? Can you control the spiders?” she asked excitedly. These constructed spiders were not the only eight-legged foes in the house but anything that reduced their numbers was a good thing.

“Unfortunately, no,” answered the green avatar, Sira. “I believe that our presence here is what awoke the Stuff in a way that allowed the drow to create those spiders and bring them to life, but it is through a different process than us. We cannot control them, but there is one spider that does not need controlling.”

Part 6

“Yes, Evey was able to convert one of the spiders when she was rescuing Saffee,” added Naida.

“How do you know about that?” asked Evey.

“Ever since my arrival here I have been around, watching and learning in the background,” she admitted. As she spoke a spider came into view. The clan tensed up. “This is the spider that Evey fended off with Mischief. The charge of power was enough to bring it back to our side.”

“Then we can do that with all of them!” Aneka said with excitement.

“Perhaps, but it won’t be easy. I suspect that the emotions within Evey at that moment was the cause of the strength of the power of the Mischief. She was so close to saving her friend that she could not bear to fail. Much like a burst of physical strength in a stressful moment. It could be possible but a similar strength would be required.”

Aneka nodded. “It’s a tactic to keep in mind, then.”

“Of course. As we learn to work together I’m sure we will be capable of many things. Let us start by helping your comfort and move in your furniture?”

“Yes! Beds!” exclaimed Glissa happily.

“Please show us where you would like them set up.”

“Thank you! Why, Sassy just helped us create a new living space. With these new comforts it will be a home in no time!” Evey gestured for the avatars to follow her.

“I still don’t like this,” pointed out Aldrea. She could express her concern and the rules of the Clan even meant that she could force a vote on a decision but it was very clear that she would not win.

“If you do not wish us to construct anything for you we will abide by your request,” Azari said as she passed by Aldrea.

“Yeah, I think that will be for the best,” agreed Aldrea, pointing Moon’s Glow at the small elf.

With Aldrea keeping a watchful eye the Clan and their new allies went about moving into their new home.

Aurora Borealis

“Rosebud! Wake up! Let’s go on an adventure!”

The little nymph stirred in her nest, her eye opening to peer at me. “Okay…” she replied sleepily.

I scooped her up and took her out to the car.

“I like adventure, but is this really necessary?” she asked. “I’m a nature nymph! I dance with the flames, I twirl in the tornados, I crash with the waves! What’s going to happen that this is going to make a difference?” she questioned.

“Well, I find it funny, so there’s that…”

“So, what’s going on? Where are we going? It’s so late…” she asked as we took to the streets.

“What’s going on? You don’t know?” I questioned in disbelief.

“No?” she replied with a yawn.

“Well, then I suppose I have quite a surprise for you!”

We roared north out of the city and into the darkness of the countryside. Once we got to a good spot I stopped and got out. Rosebud slipped out of the seatbelt and jumped out herself. It took her no time at all to notice what was going on around us.

“Whoa…” she gasped as she took in the colors.

“I can’t believe you didn’t know this was going on. You’re always so in tune with nature.”

“Oh, this isn’t my doing! This is my Sun Sister! She’s such an artist.”

“Look at the green over there! Quick, before you miss it!”

“Wow…” I exclaimed as I took it all in. The sky was in a constant state of shifting.

“It’s all around us, like being under a waterfall!”

“Your Sun Sister is outdoing herself tonight!”

“I think she’s starting to get a little tired herself… It’s past her bedtime too! Giggle!”

“Let’s get one more photo of two of the most beautiful things in the universe together!”

“Ha ha! Okay!”

Pirate Queen

Part 1

Enjoying a day out together, Evey and Saffee were enjoying the lovely weather with a stroll together along the shore.

“Oh look! A cool hat!” exclaimed Evey, gesturing to the discarded garment. She went and picked it up.

“Huh. That’s an unusual one. I wonder who lost it,” replied Saffee.

“Well, it’s found now. I think it looks pretty cute on you.”

Saffee chuckled and gave Evey a quick kiss while she was close. “Then maybe we’ll keep it,” she replied.

The happy couple continued their walk along the water’s edge until they came across an even bigger discovery. On the shore ahead of them was the limp form of a woman in tattered clothes, her boots still in the water.

Evey spotted her first and gestured to her. The two elves didn’t even need to exchange words, they immediately rushed to her side.

“She’s still breathing,” observed Saffee. “Let’s roll her over.”

Without knowing what other injuries the woman may have they worked together to roll her over gently. As they did she coughed and slowly woke up with a moan. She looked first to Evey, then to Saffee.

“Hey. Are you okay?” asked Evey with concern.

The woman’s eyes locked onto Saffee. Her expression went from blank to rage in a split second and she leaped into action as she accused the shocked Saffee. “THIEF!” she declared as she pushed off from the ground and rolled on top of Saffee.

Part 2

“Whoa! Hey!” Evey jumped into action to protect Saffee. She noticed that a gun had appeared in the sailor’s hands and she called out a warning. “Gun! GUN!” She grabbed the woman’s arm to keep the weapon pointed at the sky. As she grabbed it away she heard an ominous click but the weapon didn’t fire.

Working together Saffee and Evey fought back and wrestled her into submission, pinning her to a rock. “Argh! Let me go!” growled the woman, still struggling.

“You just tried to shoot me! I don’t think that’s going to happen! Why did you call me a thief?” Saffee demanded.

“My hat! That’s my hat, you scallywag!” she exclaimed.

Saffee grabbed the other gun from its holster and tossed the threat aside.

“That’s it?” asked Evey with exasperation. “I found that up the shore, washed up much like we just found you! If it’s yours, of course you can have it back! We’re only trying to help you! Please, let go of this gun and tell us how you ended up here. This is all just a misunderstanding. We’ll still help you if you’ll let us. Or, we can just walk away and leave you be.”

Reluctantly, she loosened her grip on the pistol. “Fine. The powder is wet anyways.”

Evey took the gun and tossed it away. “There, that’s better. We’ll let you up now. Why don’t you start by telling us your name? I’m Evey and this is Saffee.”

Saffee handed the hat back and the woman put it on over her mess of golden hair.

The tanned elf sat up and got comfortable, glowering a little at the two elves. They had helped her and she’d threatened them in turn. She did feel like she owed them something, even something as simple as an explanation. She also needed to figure out what had happened to her and verbalizing it would help put it straight. “I am Goldie, Pirate Queen of the West. Or… At least I was. What is a pirate queen without her ship? Last night we hit a storm and visibility was terrible. We were traversing some rapids and the wind blew us off course. The hull came down hard on a rock and broke it wide open. I’ve never seen a ship take on water so fast. The wind and the rapids smashed us against the rocks and she broke apart completely.” She paused, blinking back a tear as she remembered what was next. “There was no swimming in this current, you went where the water took you. The rain was coming down so hard you could hardly tell when your head was above or below the surface. I saw… I saw a shadow come up from the depths. I think it was a pike. It swallowed my first mate whole. She never saw it coming…” She paused again, burying her head in her hands.

“The current took me deep, drug me along the bottom. My clothes caught on something… I thought I would drown and end up fish food myself. Apparently not. Instead the waves decided to leave me with nothing. No ship, no first mate, no treasure. I guess it at least it ripped me free of what I was caught on.”

Evey moved closer and put a comforting hand on the pirate queen. “We’re sorry for your loss. If you need a place to stay for a while you could come with us. We’re from the True North Clan of elves. Maybe you’ve heard of us?”

“A lot of our resources are tied up in battling an evil drow that somehow ended up in this realm but we can definitely offer you a warm place, food, and comradery. Take the time you need to figure things out and plan your next move. If you want to talk about your loss there are those of us who can help you through,” she continued.

“I don’t know…” the pirate replied.

To be concluded…

Part 3

“Come with us and spend the night. Get cleaned up, have some food and hang out with us,” urged Saffee. “Make your decision in the morning.”

“Why don’t we walk up the shore a little further first in case something or someone else washed ashore?” added Evey.

The Pirate Queen considered the offer before nodding slowly. “Aye. I suppose that is the best offer I’m going to get. I accept,” she replied. “Look, I’m sorry for attacking you. I won’t leave my weapons behind, but you two can carry them if you’d rather.” She saw little for options at the moment. Sure, she could start a fire and survive out here but she wasn’t going to be able to find a new ship and crew on the shore of this river. She’d take advantage of these landlubbers for as long as it pleased her.

Saffee and Evey exchanged a glance. “I don’t think that will be necessary. We can’t help you if you shoot us, so I think we’re safe,” replied Evey with a smile.

“Agreed, but I would appreciate if they remained holstered even if they were too wet to fire,” added Saffee, a little shook up over the situation but feeling positive.

“Aye, I can do that,” replied the pirate queen with a nod. She collected her guns and secured them as agreed.

The trio of elves continued off down the shore in silence. Every and Saffee thought it was best to let the pirate talk if she wishes. They had plenty of questions for her but they didn’t want to ask her about anything sensitive given her situation. Sometimes it was best to let others bring things up at their own speed.

Eventually they came across something else washed up on the shore, a large chest. The Pirate Queen quickly moved over to it and lifted the lid to check inside. She closed it again before the other two caught up. “It is some of my effects,” she announced, grabbing it by the handle to take it with them.

“That’s great!” beamed Evey. “Do you want a hand carrying it?”

She shook her head. “No, but could you carry this? I would like to keep it. As a memento.” She held up the wheel from her ship that had washed up by the chest.

“Of course!” replied Evey, taking the wheel.

The trio of elves walked along the shore for awhile longer but didn’t find anything else of interest or value. Much like the Pirate Queen’s first mate, much had been lost to the waves. They made the journey back to House Baenre.

***

The trio entered the house through the basement and Aneka met them.

“You’re back early,” she commented to Evey and Saffee while eyeing up the tanned pirate. She didn’t know everyone in the True North Clan, but she certainly didn’t recognize this elf.

“We found a new friend! Her ship sank on the river in the storm last night. Come on, we’ll introduce her to everyone inside the portal.”

“Portal?” asked the pirate with a touch of confusion.

“It’s a long story, but it’s a safe space for us to be within the house of the drow we fight,” explained Saffee. “We’re lucky to have access to a large supply of Mischief here which allows for certain things. Please, follow us and we’ll introduce you to everyone and get you settled. There’s plenty of space for all.”
