Goldie’s Remembrance

Part 1

Goldie sat down on a rock and looked out at the waters. She was still mourning what had happened; the disbelief of it all still dominating her mind. She was a seasoned captain and had weathered storms far worse than the one that had claimed her ship and her crew. Bad luck. That’s all she could think of for the cause, just plain old bad luck.

She sighed and looked out at the water.

As she did, a soft giggle met her ear. She looked around but didn’t see anyone. She thought perhaps she was hearing things but then it happened again. Someone else was here. Of course, this wasn’t the first time she’d run into people here. It was along this very river that she’d met Saffee and Evey of the True North Clan but she knew that none of the Clan was out here today. She’d told them that she wanted some time alone and they were understanding of this and had lent her their car.

Curious, Goldie got up and followed the sounds. Someone was enjoying themselves.

As she came around a rock she found the culprit. Another elf! No, she could immediately tell this creature was different despite the physical similarities.

Rosebud turned around and saw Goldie. “En garde!” she laughed, thrusting the sword in her hand playfully towards the elf. “Oh! Are you a real pirate? That’s so cool! I was splashing in the water and I found this cool hat! And this sword! Can we be pirates together? Is there buried treasure around here? Oh, this is so cool!” she laughed.

Goldie put a hand on one of her guns but when Rosebud didn’t advance she relaxed. “Um, yes. I’m Pirate Queen Goldie. I’m afraid the only treasure I know of here has been claimed by these watery depths. The depths seem willing to give some back, though. Where did you find that hat? And the sword?”

Part 2

“A Pirate Queen? Wowie! Most around here know me as Rosebud the nature nymph! I found them! Isn’t this hat cool? The feathers were wet and ruined but my feathered friends were kind enough to give me some fresh ones! Do you like them?”

A nature nymph? Goldie had heard of such creatures. They were powerful and usually elusive, something that sailors might say they glimpsed among the trees along the shore. “It looks beautiful. I- I don’t suppose I could have it? I know that hat. It belonged to my first mate. Our ship smashed on the rocks. I saw her get swallowed whole by a fish as the current took us. I came here to remember her. To mourn her. May I?” she asked emotionally, not brave enough to make demands of a nymph.

Rosebud pulled the hat off and looked at it. “Oh, the poor thing! Of course you can! Come here.”

Goldie approached and expected the hat, but instead got wrapped up in a hug from Rosebud. The nymph’s embrace calmed the grieving pirate and she felt her emotional barriers come down. She had nothing to prove to this creature of nature. Her eyes welled up with tears which began to stream down her face.

“There, there,” cooed Rosebud. “Nature is unforgiving and ruthless. Your friend got caught up in the Circle. Everything is. But she played her part and you got to be there for some of it. I see death all around me all the time but I don’t focus on the dead log, I focus on the memory of the beautiful tree it once was. The good times are what existing in this world is all about. Hold those memories close. Here.” Rosebud let go of Goldie and handed her the hat.

“I miss her,” Goldie said softly as she took the hat and looked at it.

“You should. She was your friend,” replied Rosebud. “Never forget her, but don’t let her memory stop you from enjoying whatever life brings you next. Do you wanna… Go chase some squirrels?”

Goldie smiled. “No, that’s okay. Thank you. Thank you for finding this and for taking care of it. I think I feel better, but I want to sit and reflect a little longer.”

Rosebud nodded. “I understand. I’ll go chase that noisy chatterbox farther away for some peace and quiet for you.” She paused to take the harness off of her. “Was this hers too? I don’t need a sword! You can have it too.”

Goldie took the weapon and watched as the nymph ran off for the trees, chittering back at the squirrel in what sounded like actual conversation. She sighed and looked back at the hat in her hands. She brought it up to her face and smelled it, hoping to take in some of the scent of the woman she’d once known and was disappointed to find that it had all washed away.

After her interaction with Rosebud she felt a little better, but she still remained sitting on a rock until the sun began to set. A smile slowly crossed her face as she remembered the good times she’d shared with her lover, Wendy.

Chasing Squirrels

“Wait! Hold on… I’m beat! Let’s take a little rest.”

“Squeak?”

“Oh, don’t worry about him. He’s harmless. Want a snack?”

“Chitter chitter chitter!”

“Giggle! Of course you do!”

“There you go, eat up and get your energy back!”

“You’re ready to go again already!? Okay, you need the head start anyways! Ha ha!”

“Squeak squeak!”

“Chickadee-dee-dee?”

“Oh, of course I have a little more! Here you go!”

“Chickadee-dee-dee!”

“You’re welcome! Don’t worry, I’ll catch up to him! Giggle!”

Veyronna Dancing

Veyronna approached the pole with trepidation. She’d seen the other elves dance on the pole for fun and exercise, but the small mage lacked the muscle tone and natural grace the others did. She was capable of moving her body in all sorts of ways for her spells but those movements were learned and practiced; they weren’t something that had come to her easily. How hard could it be?

Taking a deep breath Veyronna grabbed the pole, jumped up, and wrapped her legs around the pole like she’d seen others like Saffee and Evey do.

She gripped the pole tightly but slowly she slipped down and down and down until her butt sank into the soft fur around the pole.

She sighed but wasn’t going to give up that easily. She got to her feet, considering other options.

Another thing she’d seen others do was use momentum to help move around the pole. She took a step back and leapt at the pole, grabbing it with her hands and leaping up, throwing herself around the pole.

Her hands slipped from the pole and she let out a yelp of surprise as she landed on the soft fur, her body rolling off the edge.

Her ego bruised far more than her body she picked herself up and grabbed her hat off the floor, fixing the point as she went to sit down. She just didn’t have the strength to pull any of these moves off.

Glissa came into the space and knelt down by the disappointed Veyronna. She’d heard the yelp and thud and came to investigate. “Hey, you okay Veyronna? It sounded like you fell.”

Veyronna sniffled. “Yeah, I’m okay. I was just trying to dance like the rest of you do and I fell.”

“Well, that’s no good! We’ll get you dancing in no time! Come on, let me give you a hand,” offered Glissa cheerfully. When it was a matter of strength there was no one in the clan better to call on.

Veyronna accepted Glissa’s hand up and picked up her hat before approaching the pole again with Glissa coming in behind her. “Okay, now grab the pole up high. Good. Now when you’re ready, jump up and squeeze your thighs against the pole while holding on tight. Ready?”

“Okay, I think so… Hup!” Veyronna leapt up as instructed and was surprised when she felt Glissa’s strong hand on the back of her thigh. “Hah!”

“Everything okay?” asked Glissa, effortlessly holding the mage aloft.

“Yeah, but your hand is cold.”

“Oh, sorry. Okay, now…”

Amazing pics with the squirrel(s). :+1:
Did you knew they will be there and just waited a little? Pics done via remote trigger or a video?

Thank you!

I was only expecting birds and was told this area had birds that were used to being fed. The squirrel was a surprise, but a welcome one! He showed up while I was setting up, left, then came back about 45 minutes later. I believe I was there for a total of about 90 minutes.

Those are all photos, not screen grabs from a video. The bonus photo with the tripod in it gives an idea of how close I was. That would have been taken on my knees very close to where I was sitting. When I was sitting one of my feet was under the tripod. I was triggering the phone remotely but was close enough I could have leaned and reached it.

Valentine’s Gifts
Saffee Casts “Mirror Image”

“Oh, I love the rose and the négligée you’re wearing. Thank you, my love,” cooed Saffee as she smelled the flower. “I’ve been working on something special for you,” she added with a coy smile.

“I can hardly wait,” replied Evey. “Where is it?”

“It’s right here,” replied Saffee.

Evey looked around in confusion. It was just them and a soft sea of sheets. Saffee took advantage of the confusion and pushed Evey back, sending her sprawling into the soft fabric. Evey laughed in anticipation but stopped suddenly in surprise. Saffee spoke an incantation and made a complicated hand gesture. Before Evey’s stunned eyes stood three Saffees. The original flopped down into the sheets beside Evey, running her hand over her chest, up her neck, and onto her cheek while the other brushed some stray hairs off her brow and down the length of her long pointed ear.

Evey shuddered as the two copies joined in and she fought against pleasurable sensory overload. “… The rose seems so inadequate!” she managed.

Saffee smiled warmly. “So insensitive of you not to bring one for each of me, but it’s the thought that counts and the time for thinking is over. Just lay back and enjoy before the spell runs out…”

Aldrea, Arachne, and the Clan in “Aldrea’s Wildest Dream”

“For the glory of the True North Clan!” cried Aldrea as she held aloft Moon’s Glow triumphantly.

“Careful, I can still hear her breathing,” cautioned Aneka, the ranger’s keen senses not missing a detail. She kept an arrow ready.

Saffee knelt down to take the dropped dagger watching for signs of the drow’s signature poison.

“But how!?” wondered Evey from the floor near the drow’s foot.

“You doubt my abilities? Glissa!”

Glissa looked into the room where the sleeping warrior Aldrea lay, her slumber restless as she shifted under the sheets. She’d thought she’d heard her name. “Ugf eh choooo…” Aldrea continued muttering.

Glissa quietly approached and leaned over Aldrea. She could see a smile on the elf’s lips. “Aw, she’s having a dream,” Glissa whispered to herself. She pulled up the covers and tucked her in.

Meanwhile, Aldrea continued to dream of her single-handed defeat of the drow…

Help Me!
Glissa in (a) “Gelatinous Cube”

As the adventurers rounded the corner and came across the unusual dungeon denizen Glissa did what any good warrior would and charged into the fray with a battle cry and her sword held high. The size of the cubed ooze was hard to judge with the flickering light and its jiggling surfaces. Glissa misjudged and she touched its surface. She was instantly stuck and the slime started to envelope her. Against something like this her strength meant nothing and the more she struggled the more the cube overcame her. In an instant she was half enveloped and she could feel the acidic properties of the creature acting on her skin.

Aneka’s arrows pierced the membrane harmlessly. “Quit shooting it and grab my hand! Get me out of here!” yelled Glissa, her sword already dropped and her arm outstretched.

Aneka looked hesitant to come close to the thing that had so quickly overcome the strongest member of the party.

“Hold on, Glissa! I’ve got you!” called Veyronna as she began to cast Fireball.

Glissa braced herself. Hopefully someone had a healing potion.

Someday I’m going to try and do this shoot again. It did not go to plan! I’m still pretty pleased with this picture, though. Many, many liters of Jello.

Dolls in Motion
Evey in “The Winner Gets To Take Me Home”

The elf strutted along the yellow line in the center of the street, her hips swaying side to side in her tight skirt. As she came even with the rolled down windows of the sleep white sports cars she knelt down and looked in the window of one, then the other. “Okay, here’s the deal. Whoever wins this race gets to take me home tonight.” She looked between the two drivers again and could see the excitement on their faces. If they hadn’t been motivated to win before, they were now.

Evey stood back up and walked further up the road before spinning around on her heel to face the cars. She pointed at the Porsche and locked eyes with the driver. The German car revved excitedly, the whine of the turbo audible. They nodded and Evey raised her arm. She pointed at the Lamborghini and locked eyes with the driver. The large V-12 revved, making its commanding presence known. They nodded and Evey raised her arm.
Both cars revved and Evey dropped her arms. With a squeal of tires the two cars raced past her and down the street. A moment later the winner rolled up beside her, grinning triumphantly. “I was hoping it would be you,” smiled Evey as she opened the door and slid into the Lambo. “Take me to the corner of 85th and 27th.”

“… What?” asked the driver.

“I said you’d get to take me home. I live at 85th and 27th,” Evey said with a smile and batted her eyes.

I had fun with this one. Very early morning, middle of the road. I prepped the staging at home so I knew where to set everything to get the angles I wanted. Pulled up in my car in the middle of the road, pulled everything out of the hatch, and got the photo. I’m pretty proud of the headlights. They worked out perfectly.

“It’s full enough,” argued Evey, her hand gripping the edge.

“Yes! YES!” cackled Helena as she watched the elf transform. She still clutched the fiddle in her hand, but this was a much better way to gain a soul.

Glissa cried out as the transformation gripped her. Horns ripped from her scalp. Her hands grew monstrous with large black claws. Her clothes vanished in white flames to be replaced with chains. The guitar appeared in her hands and suddenly she knew exactly what to do with it. Her fingers danced along the frets and her new claws made the perfect picks as she ripped out a solo so hot the area around her burst into flame.

Weighty Confessions

Part 1

Aneka found Glissa working out and subtly looked around to make sure that they would be alone before approaching her. “Hey Glissa, do you have a minute?”

Glissa dropped the weight she was lifting and Aneka was certain she felt the vibration through her feet, something she didn’t really think was possible in a portal void-space like Sanctuary. Just how much weight was she lifting?

“Of course! What’s going on, Aneka?” Asked Glissa cheerfully.

Aneka went and sat on one end of the barbell. It didn’t move at all, not even a slight roll. It was as solid as sitting on a mountain. “Well, I was just wondering what you think about Bastet joining us.”

“I think it’s great! She’ll be able to give us all kinds of insight about the drow! Strengths, weaknesses. Who knows what kind of information she might be able to offer us. And, I know she’s a good fighter. She almost took me down once, although I’ve been training since then. Perhaps we can train together!” Replied Glissa.

Aneka nodded. “You seem pretty excited about it, and I agree. She’ll be a valuable addition to our resistance. Given your enthusiasm now I’m a little surprised you didn’t vote in favor of her joining us in the meeting.”

Glissa paused for a moment. “Um, I guess the meeting caught me a little off guard. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do. At least everyone else saw what I hadn’t decided yet. It all worked out!”

Aneka let Glissa finish her lie before she continued. “I saw the look Aldrea gave you and your half raised hand. Glissa, I’m worried. That isn’t a healthy dynamic for you or for the Clan. I want to help.”

Glissa blushed, embarrassed that she’d been called out. “I’m sorry…”

There was an awkward pause. “Some of the sharpest eyes in the Clan. I don’t miss anything,” Aneka added with an awkward smile to break the silence.

“I wanted to vote yes but I saw Aldrea look at me and I didn’t want to disappoint her.” Glissa looked around to be sure there were no other ears listening. “I haven’t said anything to anyone, but I really like her. Like, a lot.”

Aneka nodded in understanding. “Attraction is a funny thing. May I give you some advice?”

Glissa nodded. “Of course, Aneka.”

“You need to have a talk with her. Set some boundaries and understanding. The sooner you do it, the better it will be for your relationship. She might be a great warrior with many battles under her belt and titles gained with honor and glory, but that doesn’t mean young Glissa of the True North Clan doesn’t deserve to be treated right by her.”

“No, I don’t think you understand,” interrupted Glissa, shifting her weight awkwardly. “We don’t have a relationship… She doesn’t know how I feel.”

Aneka nodded slowly. “Perhaps I should put this another way. If this is how she treats you outside of a relationship, how do you expect anything different in one?”

Part 2

Glissa wasn’t sure how to respond to that. “I don’t know… Love?”

Aneka wasn’t sold on the idea and it showed on her face.

“Its just… I can’t stop thinking about her. And when I do I get all warm and can’t think straight,” continued Glissa.

Aneka laughed. “I know you’re young, but even after all your decades certainly you know why you feel like that, right? She makes you horny, Glissa. There’s no need to be coy with me. She’s hot and you want her. I won’t deny you that. But, I fear that your lust is clouding your judgement. I don’t think that many of us would argue that you’re the happiest and friendliest one of us. The most open and accepting, and yet Aldrea was able to turn you away from that.”

Glissa was disappointed in herself. She didn’t know what to think. “I’m so confused, Aneka. As much as it pains me, I can’t really argue with you. How am I supposed to stop thinking about her like that?”

Aneka sighed. This was a hard one. “I think you should talk to her. Tell her how you feel. Tell her what you want. Tell her what you thought about how she’s treating you. What I want you to do is really listen to her answers. How she responds to your deepest desires will teach you a lot about her. But, I need you to be prepared and willing to change what you want. If she doesn’t give you satisfactory answers then… You’re probably best to move on. You’re young, Glissa. You’ve got your whole life ahead of you. I don’t want to see you get hurt, especially not by your first crush. You’re a very likeable person, everyone here likes you, I think. And, a body like no other!” She finished with a wink. “You’ll find someone else, I have absolutely no doubt about that.”

Glissa looked at the ranger. “You’re only making me feel more confused with that.”

Aneka laughed. “Sorry. Does the rest make sense?”

Glissa nodded. “I think so… I’ll go talk to her. Maybe I’ll go lay down and think for a bit first. Think about what I’m going to say.”

Aneka nodded. “That’s not a bad idea. Just remember that you’re Glissa, the strongest elf who ever was, and you deserve the best. I’m sorry for laying all this on you. If you need any help before or after don’t hesitate to come and find me. Anything you need.”

Glissa shook her head. “It’s okay. You’re looking out for me and I appreciate that. I’ll talk to her today. Thanks.”

“You’re welcome. Good luck!”

Glissa lay down in her bunk and stared up at the black abyss above her and let herself be alone with her thoughts. She thought she could do this, but the nervousness was getting to her.

Aneka was right. She was Glissa! Great warrior of the True North Clan! She’d charge into a fight where the stakes were far higher than this! What was there to be nervous about?

Feeling a little more confident, Glissa hopped down off her bunk and headed off to find Aldrea.

Part 3

She didn’t have to go far. As Glissa was heading out Aldrea came in and seemingly materialized out of the void of Sanctuary. She ran right into her and Glissa had to grab her to keep her from falling over backwards.

The shock of running into someone and that someone being the person you were just about to profess your love for was too much and Glissa froze up, staring into Aldrea’s eyes.

“Uh, thank you for grabbing me, Glissa,” Aldrea finally said to break the awkward silence as she started to try and get up from Glissa’s grip.

“Oh! Yeah! Of course!” replied Glissa as she turned back on and started helping Aldrea up. “I was actually coming to look for you! What a coincidence!” She spoke quickly. “I just really wanted to tell you that I really want to fuck you.

“Wait! I mean I really want to have sex- No! Wait, I mean I do, but… Aldrea, I want to be with you because I think you’re hot.” Glissa’s face burned with embarrassment. “Oh goddess… I messed that right up…”

She turned and walked back to the bunk beds and sat down on Aldrea’s bunk, looking down in embarrassment. She fully expected to either be humiliated further or for Aldrea to just leave.

Instead, the older elf approached her. “You know, we spoke about this in training. Your movements as you attack betray your end goal, leaving your opponent fully aware of your intentions and leaving you with no element of surprise.”

“I am so sorry, Master Aldrea. I didn’t mean to say that…” apologized Glissa, scared to look up and meet Aldrea’s gaze.

Aldrea got down in front of Glissa, one hand on her thigh and the other lifted her chin. “No, I can’t imagine those are the words you meant to say. As your teacher it would be wrong of me to not give you another chance to do it correctly and learn.”

Glissa trembled as Aldrea’s hand ran over her bare skin. She met Aldrea’s gaze. She’d never heard Aldrea’s voice sound like this. Something was clearly different in this moment. She took a couple deep breaths before she tried to speak again. “Aldrea, I really like you. Your beauty, your strength, your willingness to share what you have learned in life. I want… I want to be with you and to learn more at your side both in battle and… Everywhere. I think I love you. I can’t stop thinking about you after a training session. I already told you I want to be your friend, but I think I want to be more than that. Despite my mouth moving faster than my brain, I hope there’s a chance that you might consider it?” Glissa’s heart was racing as she waited for a response.

Aldrea smiled. The serious elf seemed warmer and softer than Glissa had ever witnessed. “Much better. Glissa, this may be the bravest thing I’ve ever seen you do. Not many have the courage to say anything like any of this to me.” Aldrea slipped off her gauntlets and set them aside before placing her hands on Glissa’s thigh. “You’re trembling. Glissa, I-”

The moment was interrupted by an alarm ringing through the still silence of Sanctuary and the sound of Saffee’s voice. “Unscheduled incoming traveller!” The Clan’s portal had been activated and someone or something was coming. The odds of it being a threat were low but the militaristic Clan didn’t like to take chances. They had enemies and there was always a chance that one of them had gained control of an outpost somewhere.

Glissa was lost in the moment but Aldrea was immediately alert. She stood up and grabbed her gauntlets, shoving them on before leaning over Glissa to grab her sword, the legendary Moon’s Glow.

Glissa, now thoroughly titulated, fell over backwards.

Aldrea headed for the exit, pausing to look back at Glissa still on the bed. “Come on! If you wish to be with me then you must learn to shake off distraction in a moment!”

“C-coming!” Glissa stuttered as she tried to come to her senses and followed after Aldrea.

Dragonbound

Part 1

Aldrea ran to the portal room and stood at the ready just in case. A figure emerged and Aldrea immediately recognized her. “Oh my goddess… Is it really you? …Oh no.” Uncharacteristically, Aldrea dropped her beloved sword and ran up the ramp to the woman, embracing her tightly.

The woman hugged her back and the two elves remained embraced for a long time.

As the silence drug on Glissa walked over and picked up Moon’s Glow. She didn’t know what was going on, but it seemed like the right thing to do for her new girlfriend.

“It is good to be among friends again, Aldrea."

As they spoke, Glissa looked around in a state of confusion. “What’s going on?” She whispered to herself, not expecting anyone to hear, let alone answer.

Aldrea did hear. “Forgive me. Let me introduce Octavia, Dragon Rider of the True North Clan!”

“Thank you, but that is my old title. I am now Octavia Ice Fang, Dragonbound of the True North Clan. But, you may call me Octavia. He does not mind.”

“Dragon Rider Octavia? I grew up listening to tales of you before bed!” Replied Glissa with excitement and awe. “So… where is Ice Fang? What’s a Dragonbound?”

“Glissa-” started Aldrea.

Octavia stopped her with a hand. “It is okay. I cannot disappoint a fan.” The elf knelt down and tilted her head forward to more prominently display the horns on her head. “My dragon Ice Fang was struck in combat. With his wings no longer able to keep us aloft we plummeted from the sky. He used most of his remaining strength to make sure he hit first and absorbed much of the blow. I survived because of his actions, his wounds were beyond mention in polite company. In the short time he had left we were able to summon those with the nearly lost knowledge to perform such a ritual. Ice Fang’s soul was pulled from his body and infused in the stone before you, a dragon soul-gem. Then began the task of fusing the gem into myself. I was weak, having sustained injuries in the crash myself. The ritual nearly killed me, but after months of effort, they were successful. Ice Fang and I are one. My body keeps his mind alive through the soul stone.”

“But you vanished years ago, not months!” Interrupted Aldrea with a little outburst.

Octavia nodded. “That is true. Even though the ritual was successful it was very taxing for me. Getting used to another mind inside mine, the physical changes that happened to my body-”

“Those are real?” Glissa blurted out.

Octavia laughed. “Of course! These horns are as much mine -ours- as the ears beside them. They have grown from our body since the ritual. Aren’t they magnificent? It’s like he is trying to burst free from me!” She laughed again.

“Some say that given enough time, a Dragonbound will physically become the dragon they carry, eventually becoming the mind inside the body of another as the more powerful dragon takes over,” said Veyronna who had come to see who had arrived.

“I heard many stories in my downtime, that one among them. It would simply be another phase in this blessed life of ours together. I would not shy from it. Oh, to soar through the sky on leather wings again…” she lamented.

“Dragonbound, at a time of your choosing I would love to hear more of this ritual. I have heard of it but know little. Such knowledge should live on and not be lost.”

“Of course! I agree. I cannot tell you near enough to perform such a rite. It is hard to concentrate when you’re wracked with agony, both physical and mental. We will talk for days after I am settled, I promise. My tales have always been meant to be told.” She glanced at Glissa and smiled.

Glissa gave a goofy grin back, very much feeling like the little girl she had been when she’d first heard of Octavia.

“I look forward to it,” replied Veyronna with a small bow.

Saffee and Every approached Octavia. “It is great to have both of you here! Welcome to Sanctuary!”

“Please, would you like to get settled in? Perhaps we can all hear more tales over a feast tonight? We like to welcome guests, and it just so happens a kitchen raid was successful just this morning.”

“Why, thank you for giving us such a warm welcome! We’d be honored and would love to meet everyone here!”

“I will see to her every need,” insisted Aldrea. “Her and I have much to discuss.”

“It is true. There is much for us to catch up on. It is so good to see you again.” Aldrea and Octavia headed off, fading out into the void of Sanctuary.

Glissa watched as the two women left, then looked down at the sword in her hands. Aldrea must be excited to see her friend, she’d left her sword behind!

Saffee walked past Glissa and leaned in. “What is Aldrea going to do when she finds out you stole her sword?” She asked with a teasing smile.

“Not much without her sword!” Laughed Glissa. “Don’t worry, I’ll keep it safe for her. Hey, do you need a hand setting up the feast?”

“Please!”

The elves headed off to start preparing.

As Glissa was helping to set up the table Aneka found her. “Well? Did you talk to her? You must have, you have her sword! Wow! How did it go?”

“Well, it started terribly.” Glissa recounted the talk and Aneka grimaced.

“Ouch. Not good, but don’t stop there! Then what?”

“She let me try again and she got really nice. Her whole personality shifted. She called me brave for talking to her. I thought things were going really well, then the incoming traveler happened.”

“Oh, interrupted! Did you get to talk about boundaries?”

Glissa shook her head. “No, we got interrupted. But, you’ll never believe it! Octavia Ice Fang, Dragonbound of the True North Clan is here!”

“No way! I was out on patrol so that was going to be my next question! She’s a legend!”

“Yeah! I used to hear stories about her as a little girl! Apparently she and Aldrea go way back. No surprise, being two great warriors and all. They’re catching up while we get a feast ready to welcome her. Hopefully they finish before the feast. I want to talk to Aldrea more.”

“That’s amazing, Glissa. Good for you. Remember what we talked about, but I wish you all the luck there is. I’m gonna go see if I can help with the food. Feast!”

Part 3

The hours rolled by and the meal was almost ready. “Glissa, why don’t you find Aldrea and our guest of honor?” Suggested Every. “We’ll be ready in half an hour.”

“Of course!” Replied Glissa. She walked swiftly and headed off into Sanctuary to find the elves. Sanctuary had a way of leading you to people you were looking for, but only if that person wanted to be found, like a privacy mode. The magic was only so invasive and would not stop you from going places, at least not that Glissa was aware of. She figured that her shared sleeping quarters was a good place to start because that’s where she’d take a friend she wanted to be alone with.

As the bunk bed came into focus Glissa stopped short with a gasp. She’d caught Aldrea and Octavia in a very intimate position. Both were naked and Aldrea’s head was locked in place by Octavia’s thighs. The Dragonbound’s head was back and letting out pleasurable sounds.

Glissa snapped. She moved forward swiftly, pulling Moon’s Glow out as she did. The two women, lost in each other, weren’t aware of Glissa’s presence until she let out a battle cry a split second before she struck.

Moon’s Glow struck the bedframe and sliced through it with ease. The frame collapsed and aroused elves went tumbling. As trained warriors, both started to get up quickly to fight off whatever force had invaded their bedroom.

“No! You stay down!” Ordered Glissa as she leveled Aldrea’s own sword at her.

Octavia was up and not about to stand idly by and prepared to strike. Her eyes glowed and twin blades materialized in her hands.

“Octavia! No!” Commanded Aldrea from the floor.

Octavia stopped but stood ready. If Glissa moved to strike she would strike first.

“What were you doing!?” Glissa demanded. “Earlier! I thought! We- You said- I- I love you!”

Part 4

“Oh no… Glissa, Aldrea and I are married. Please, I don’t know what happened before I arrived and that does not matter to me. Will you allow me to explain? Hold the sword if it would make you feel better, but I beg of you not to use it on my wife.”

Glissa stared down the sword at Aldrea, breathing hard. “O-okay,” she replied, already in shock over what she had done. At this point she wasn’t sure she was sorry. She took a step back from Aldrea so she wasn’t directly threatened and nodded for Octavia to continue.

“Thank you. Glissa, Aldrea and I have been married for over a century. We met on the battlefield and fought side by side many times. It was clear to both of us that we were interested in the other but both knew that getting involved wasn’t a good idea. It wasn’t until peace times that we started seeing each other. But, a warrior’s job is never done so we only started seeing each other under certain conditions.”

“Glissa, I have not seen my wife in over five years. To the best of my knowledge she was dead,” interjected Aldrea.

Octavia nodded. “Dragon mages are a secretive lot. I wanted to reach out to Aldrea and tell her what was happening but they would not let me for fear of the location being revealed. Our agreement was that we would move on. If one of the others fell or was lost, the other was not to wallow in self pity for the rest of their days. They were to move on. To be happy.”

“Glissa, I was happy that you chose to speak up. You’re beautiful. You’re very nice and friendly. Anyone here would be lucky to have you. Someday you’re going to be the elf that parents tell their children stories of. I was ready to accept your proposal under a similar understanding that Octavia and I have… But goddess saw fit to deliver my wife back to me at that moment and stopped us from doing more than talk. I am sorry, Glissa, but I don’t think you’ll blame me for choosing my wife over you.”

Glissa slumped in shame. She felt terrible. She couldn’t have known, but she still felt terrible. She reached down to give Aldrea a hand up. “I’m so sorry… I’ve made such a fool of myself! Oh, of course I don’t blame you. She seems really great. You’re really great. You’re both really lucky. I’m sorry for interrupting and I’m sorry for disrespecting Moon’s Glow like that.”

“I forgive you, Glissa. Emotions make us do crazy things. No one was hurt. That’s what’s important. We don’t have to speak of this again,” replied Octavia as she dismissed her swords.

“I’m not overly impressed about having my own sword pointed at me, but I forgive you too. I’m sorry that Octavia didn’t arrive a little sooner and all of this could have been avoided,” added Aldrea as she accepted Glissa’s hand up.

“Thank you. Both of you. I hope we can still be friends… Um, the reason I came here was to tell you both that the feast is almost ready,” Glissa informed the women as she offered Moon’s Glow back to Aldrea.

“Like it never happened, Glissa. I’m sure we’ll be fast friends. You already know stories of me, I hope to get to hear stories of you. Ice Fang has already noticed you are special. Give us a moment to get dressed and we can walk together.”

Glissa nodded. “Sure. Okay. I would be happy to tell you my tale some time.” Glissa remained while the two warriors got dressed. She tried very hard not to look but it was impossible not to look at these two fine ladies.

Once they were ready Glissa paused. “Octavia, would you mind giving Aldrea and I a moment?”

“Of course! I’ll just… Oh, this place is strange!”

“Just walk that way a little and that will do,” instructed Aldrea.

Octavia nodded and did as she was told. In a few steps she vanished into the darkness.

Aldrea looked to Glissa expectantly. She didn’t know what the young elf wanted.

“Aldrea, there was something else I wanted to discuss with you today. I did not like the look you gave me when we were voting the other day. I didn’t want to disappoint you but that was the wrong decision for me. I let you change who I was in that moment. I will not allow you to do that to me again. I believe that Bastet will be a valuable asset to us and I regret my vote, even if it didn’t matter in the end. Please don’t try anything like that with me again,” Glissa stated kindly but firmly.

Aldrea nodded. “I apologize, Glissa. While I stand by my vote I agree that I was out of line. You have earned my respect, Glissa. It will not happen again, you have my word.” Aldrea bowed before her student, a very unusual thing.

“Thank you. Apology accepted,” replied Glissa. She recognized the weight of Aldrea’s actions before her but it was a little heavy even for her strength. “I mean, if the two of you can excuse my actions, it’s the least I can do!” She laughed and Aldrea joined in.

“Come, let us not keep the others waiting.”
