Arachne the Domesticated Drow
The above photo was a photo contest entry which I already view as ‘out of character’ for my dolls; not necessarily canon to their personalities or ongoing stories. The contest was ‘A Woman’s Touch’ and it was there that I coined the name. It was sort of the beginning of the realization that there were two sides to Arachne. There was the side of her where she was the dark elf that appeared in my kitchen and torments me, but there was the more common side that I saw, the daily life side where she is my companion and friend. Anything that doesn’t belong in her story thread will end up here!
As I repost her story in another thread (see my signature) I’m running into some more out of character posts that I wanted to share at that time but I didn’t have a thread to more properly do it in. Now that I’m recreating things I can do it better!
Let’s start off with a pretty big event, the first time that Arachne left the house after arriving. At this point she’d been introduced to my parents, my sister and her husband. My parents had said she was welcome to come to their house and this was the first time doing that. It was a little nerve wracking to load her into the car. I have a short distance to go from by back door to the garage but I was still incredibly nervous. I removed her head and put it in a box. Then I draped a blanket over her body before carrying her out. The drive was also tense even though it was only about ten minutes. Everyone would notice a blue elf, certainly!
I have since learned that isn’t the case. Think about how often you find yourself looking at the passengers in other vehicles. Unless you have actual reason to look it doesn’t happen very much. For comparison, tomorrow morning I’ll be loading Arachne up to take her out for the long weekend. I’ll carry her out to the garage uncovered, and I’ll even take her through a drive thru on the way out of town.
Anyways, back to the event at hand! Arachne was welcomed in and she joined us at the table for lunch.
She hung out with us for the rest of the day and into the evening for games!
It was a good time and it has since become the first of many!
