The problem I run into is lighting the model without lighting the entire room, but maybe I am approaching it the wrong way.

Like Karrot said, it’s all about controlling light. Things like softboxes, grids, barndoors are often used to direct light where you want it to go.

Shot in full daylight. Shutter speed at 1/5000 using one strobe to (try to anyways 
) mimic daylight.

A trick of mine is to use a mirror in small rooms so I can change the angle and get a longer focal length. Most of my shots are through a 50mm, which takes some distance that I just can’t always get.
The main picture:
I turn off the foreground lighting and snap another one for better background lighting
I combine the two and do some editing, the final result

The mirror idea is brilliant @GeminiX ! The support rig behind the doll is also very creative. It has the tiny wheels inside my head turning to create something similar, something highly adjustable… Your resulting photo has a very high wow factor. Stunning.

Thanks, she was actually sitting on a piece of glass supported by jack stands, it was kinda just a jerry-rigged set up
