Discussion: AIO (Seamless) V.S. Seperate/Removeable Head Dolls

This is a really good write up of the difference in AIO to removable heads. I’ve got both here and love the options of both. My AngelKiss AK18-162E (Tahnee) is the AIO body and head and it’s brilliant. I did have concerns that over time the head might become loose with constant moving and turning of the head. I’m happy to say this concern has completely gone. Her head is so smooth to move and tight. Feels really solid.
For photos, it allows me to use head angles that doesn’t show the head seam that you would get from a removable head. Having implanted hair means she only has the same face all the time.

The advantages of removable heads is the range of variety in your girls. When I started with dolls, I had a range of Kimberdoll. I bought a range of WM, JY and Irontech heads to give a personality to them. This was a cheap option to buying branded dolls. A great way to add variety to your dolls.

Since adding AngelKiss silicone dolls , I’ve found that because of the standard M16 head bolt, I now can change the heads onto the different bodies for photoshoots.

I think I now have the best of both worlds in removable and AIO dolls. For photos I don’t have a preference to which I like best. The removable heads allow me the option of different heads to different bodies where the non removable doesn’t. But the AK18 162E is such a stunning girl with the 159 head, is a perfect combination to the body. I’ve also got the 159 removable head ( Charlotte) which although is the same head, works great on the different silicone bodies.

Cheers

I have both. I love both types but especially love AIO. If all my dolls could be AIO, I’d always get AIO. Once the screwable head goes on, the head rarely comes off for my ladies.

One super cool feature of AIO dolls is that they arrive in one piece. Like the arrival of Akira 160:

No removing a decapitated body from a box then attaching a head

Never owned a doll with a fixed head so cant comment but i do like the fact my girls heads can be removed. I can put them on headstands to do make up and fix eye lashes plus i have a stand to hang their bodies for washing and dressing so for me it has to be a removable head.
Plus im one of the soppy old sods that thinks their soul is in their head so i have no issues changing their bodies when things break

For me, the biggest disadvantage of removable heads is that they either pop off during sex, or the heads swing around exorcist style. Getting the head tight and front facing, while leaving a little head-turning leeway is so damn difficult. And frustrating. And a boner kill.

Oh, and I’m of that camp that rarely changes heads. I get the doll I want, with the head I want, and they stay together.

And, I find the shipping box for removable head dolls to be a super duper hassle. I want to temporarily put her in the box, I don’t want to have to disassemble her and screw/pop her head on and off repeatedly.

Hahaha, your post is killing me, RevJack! Someone should start a thread on this site titled, “Boner killers” with tips on head adjustment, wig tightening and lifting/posing pre-arousal.

I really like the idea of an AIO doll, However I do have a few thoughts on it.
First and probably foremost, as a photography model her neck seam on removable heads is a total limiter of some really cool angle shots. (Buzz Kill) Also you never have color match issues!

OK, The pluses of removable heads are a few more but as I said my biggest beef is the neck seam.
Dressing dolls for photo shooting is Way easier when you remove the head. Some of the tight dresses I put on my girls would simply be impossible without removing her head. Dressing from the bottom up only works if her hips and bum are small enough.
Adam brought up a very important point as well. Doll bodies fail over time and replacing just the body is a simple solution.
Implanted hair heads need special care and having a spare head to use (for playtime) really helps keep the implanted hair nice.
I have several different (Doll Personalities) sharing the same body. This is a big advantage.
Weight, If you have a heavy doll, removing her head before lifting her does make a difference albeit small. Every ounce counts :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
doing makeup while sitting at the table is going to be easier than trying to do it with her head on her body.

These thing considered I don’t think I’d hesitate if offered a decent deal on an AIO, (I really dislike the neck seam)
It’s the changing of clothes that is my biggest issue with seamless.

Agreed, MFI.

Celeste has a seamless neck, although you can’t see it at this angle, and it really adds to her realism (as does her closing eyes).

Hello everyone,

I’m new here, and my first post is a bit of criticism (sorry about that!).

The “AIO vs Removable Head Dolls FAQ” caught my attention on the main page, but it feels more like it’s biased against AIO dolls.

Let me explain why it comes across this way to me:

  • In the AIO pros section, the phrase “the idea” is used. Is it really just an idea, or are humans now born with neck seams? :upside_down_face: This wording immediately suggests a non-neutral stance to me.
  • The final pro argument for detachable heads is just a recap of the previous points, which feels unnecessary.
  • There are valid criticisms of AIO dolls, such as issues with bolts in the feet. However, it doesn’t mention that you can order boltless feet (which most seamless-neck dolls offer). Not all manufacturers require hanging holes either; you can simply lay the doll down as an alternative. Yes, Piper dolls need a hole for breathing due to their special weight reduction, but that’s a specific case.
  • Some of the arguments against AIO seem a bit trivial, like needing more storage space because the head is attached. I think most people ordering an AIO doll of any size would be aware of this. I actually see this as more of an issue for detachable dolls since head and body sizes might not always match perfectly if using a larger head on a smaller body. But overall, this point seems minor for both sides.
  • Finally, the writer’s personal opinion, which was apparent from the beginning, states that only removable-head dolls can be hyper-realistic. Since when is this a sign of quality? ExDoll offers hyper-realistic, seamless dolls, so if we’re talking about looks and not quality, that argument doesn’t hold up imo.

It’s perfectly fine if the creator of the post prefers detachable heads, but I think the FAQ should be revised to reflect a more neutral stance, as expected from an informative post.

If not, well… at least I gave it a try. :slightly_smiling_face:

Best regards,
Siri

Love the AIO I have a couple Piper dolls (Ariel 140 and a couple Jessica torso dolls) they are great! -light and suspended from my sex bed w bungee cords for amazing cowgirl! The lhp is a little off but it still works great being S-TPE!

This is brilliant!!!

I have thought about building a suspension arm system for Piper doll photography that would take advantage of that top of the head bolt hole.

But a system with bungies for expanding position options?!?!?
Just amazing.

Our only AIO is a 140 Piper Phoebe. She is a great doll and we would like to add more to our lineup.

Will April May be making an appearance soon?

Back in time Piper was the only brand that offered AIO only. They were the only ones to make this concept more known to people. Other brands had a model or two they did not actively push. Now more and more brands offer them and the choice is not limited to the special Piper signature look. I love my latest seamless from MMX. She is so realistic and so different from my other Piper girls.

Why do I have so many. Well it‘s a bit like with articulated fingers. Once you experienced this feature, you look for it. And I am very much into photography and this makes life so much easier. Poses and angles are possible, that otherwise would need heavy editing.

Of course Sanhui should be mentioned also, they had a few seamless models early on. Meanwhile almost every of the established brands has at least one seamless model. Latest brand to join the seamless club is Zelex. However other brands should also be listed - Angelkiss, Ex Doll which gives more choice. I am curious which other brands will follow.

I see a good reasonst not to have seamless - change heads on a doll and if the connection is well made it could be an opportunity. So you could have one soft ROS head for playtime and one hard head with implanted hair for photos… There are lots of opportunities.

On the other hand I found ways, how to deal with, what some might deem shortcomings. Dressing her needs a bit more planning and care but once you know how to do it’s easy. And here presence and beauty if so rewarding for me.

Wow, thinks, I did not know about Sanhui

CST also have one model that is AIO, although this model is rarely advertised on vendor sites.
