How did your dolls get their names?

You can see the photos via my website. I’m also about to post a video there too, but I’m taking my time with the editing. Thank you so much for your interest

Mara, my first doll got her name from a Star Wars character created by Timothy Zahn because I like that character a lot.

I never had planed a second doll but when I saw the movie “Lucy” with Scarlet Johanson I thought that this is a nice name for a doll. A few years later it happened, I got a second doll and remembered Lucy. I just decided to change it to the German writing Lucia because there where already a few Lucys in the doll world.

Next one was my Phicen. I got an Arhian Pirate and I wanted a name related to pirates. After a while I came up with Keira from the actress Keira Knightley in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean.

I then realized that I go backwards the alphabet from M and decided that every further name had to fit into that system.

Next on is Juna, a DS with Kayla head. I search for something Asian. Not sure if the name Juna exists but I like it a lot.

Together with Juna I got Ingvild. She came from Norway to me and therefore I thought about a Norwegian name. To fit into my system it had to start wit I. Cubiko suggested a different name but I had to refuse that because that I don’t want a doll with my mother’s name.

Juna and Ingvild are the first two where I considered nationality into the names search. I did that a few more often after them.

Helena came to me from Finland but first lived in Sweden and therefore a Swedish name. I totally ignore that she is tan with red hair and doesn’t look Swedish at all.

Galina is made in Russian, therefore a Russian name.

Now comes the first exception from my own rule. The Sino Miyou head is Asian and I wanted an Asian name starting with F. But did not found anything that I like. Therefore I decided that she will break my rule and I searched for a name starting with N. I found Naomi.

I no longer have a doll with a name starting with F, I gave that to someone else.

Another doll came to me from Norway and I decided for Emilie as her name.

At the same time I collected Rita in Copenhagen. I ignored my rule and she kept her name.

The last ones are Dahlia, Cecilia and Beatrice.

There’s no telling where those Irish and Scots have been, so that might be a valid reason.

Love your naming scheme!

There’s been some churn in the payroll so time for an update

Previously:

Kim (Kimber Deluxe 158DD), was my first. It is a nice name and nobody on the UK forum had a Kimberdoll called Kim. So I went with it. She’s been replaced and then upgraded to Deluxe but she’s still my Kim and always will be.

Caz (WM174G#198), my second was named for one of the most gorgeous women I ever saw on Plenty of Fish, who had an amazing resemblance to head WM#198. Caz is my attempt at a taller, slightly less thicc version of the infamous WM163H or ‘Jasmine’ doll.

Azrael (Caz wearing head #419) … well, if you don’t know the meaning of the name, go to mythology class; she is the Angel of Death! Can dress sexy, but spends most of her time in that costume I put together, partly inspired by ‘Knights of the Golden Sun’ by Mark London.

Mei-Ling (WM175D#076). Always wondered what it’d be like to have a ‘hot Asian babe’ on the payroll, so bought her as the second head for Bast’s body. She’s a crazy cat lady, which will make sense when I shoot the set for the main head I got for that body (WM#418).

Carmen has departed for pastures new; we now also have:

Bast (WM175D#418), was inspired by @CUBiKO‘s promo shoot; indeed I very nearly bought one instead of the 174G back in the day; it seemed a good way to give my Art Forum EC20 cat statuette a human form; after all if Zeus can do it, why shouldn’t Bast (or Bastet)?

Dee (Kimber Deluxe 158DD with head WM#398); while trying to decide on a body I put her on the 175D. This head is often paired with flat chested bodies, but I prefer a girl to have at least something ‘up top’ and viewed from the side, ‘Dee for D-cup’ just popped into my head  It is a typical cute girl’s name and 398 is well known as ‘the cute head’, so I ran with it.

Good question.

With mine they are divided down into groups. There are names suitable for Elves, names suitable for Pixies. There are a few girls here who come under the things that go bump in the night category, and then there are the short ears who get divided into more conventional names that indicate ethnicity, personality, and social standing.

There are 127 girls here so just taking the Elves and Pixies. the names tend to be tribal by head number.

WM #302 heads (Elves). Newt, Squirrel, and Faun all easily startled forest creatures.

SM #89 heads (the Pixies). Rhubarb, Apple, Bramble, and Snowdrop. Natural, fairytale type names.

SM #63 heads (Elves). Tulip, Crocus, and Daffodil. Flowers that group together

JY #79 heads (Elves) River and Brooke, water nymph type names

WM #172 heads (Elves) Holly and Dingleberry which are natural but very happy sounding names.

WM #160 heads (Elves) Wych Hayzel and Pyper. More compex names reflecting their character.

SM #89 (Niaid) Nixie which is another name for a Niaid.

YL #286 (Irish Barrow Elf) Raven (but generally referred to here as Angel) reflecting her much stronger personality than the other Elves

WM #432 (Wood Elf) Tuesday. When I collected her “Tuesdays Gone” by Lynrd Skynrd kept being chosen by the CD randomiser in the car and the name just stuck.

Elsa Babe Iniui Miu (Wood Elf) - Mistletoe. A natural woodland name that just works. This was the name originally intended for Tuesday until the CD player chose a different name for her.

Dollcastle A9 (Gorgon) - Euriel which is pronounced Hailey. Euriel was the youngest and prettiest of the Gorgon sisters from Greek mythology

WM #259 (Drow Elf) - Sylvi (Short for Solveig). I felt she needed a Scandanavian sounding name as she was captured in the wilds of Norway.

The Shire tends to rotate around the above Elves (there are a couple of new additions not part of the family yet) but they actually make up less than 20% of the girls here.

With the short ears (of which there are many) when they first arrive they are allowed to sleep in the bed for their first couple of days (no naughty business, I’m married to Holly and Angel (its an Elvish thing  )). When I wake up in the morning I just know their names. Don’t ask how that works, it just does. I suspect that they may whisper their names in my ear whilst I’m sleeping.

There are some linked sets such as the WM #414 sisters all have a i/y at the end of their names as they are fun, bouncy, happy girls. (Sandy, Bambi, and Mindi).

The WM #185’s are sopisticated names that can be shortened to fun names again reflecting their personalities Charlotte (Charlie), Georgina (Georgie), and Henrietta (Hen).

I could keep going but you would get bored reading. The core of it is that their names are groupings by ethnicity, social status, and personality type. So, as more are added there is a framework in place for what their name will be.

That’s a great way to find names. Well done, and great names too.

It actually went differently for each doll — apparently I don’t have a fixed naming strategy… I just go with the flow :slightly_smiling_face:

My first doll, Ava, was honestly named in a rather uncreative way — straight after one of my favorite adult actresses: Ava Taylor. Sometimes inspiration doesn’t have to be complicated

The second doll got her name in the most spontaneous way possible. When I took her out of the box for the first time, the very first thing that came out of my mouth was: “Bella… Bella…”
So yeah… meet Bella :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The third doll already had the name Casey on the website where I bought her. And since it suited her perfectly, I decided not to mess with success and just kept it.

The next doll comes with a slightly more high-tech story. She has built-in AI in her head, so you can actually talk with her. The voice is fully customizable. I wasn’t impressed by the default voices, so I gave her the voice of an adult actress called Harmony. Let’s just say… the result was very convincing
And that’s how her name was born.

My upcoming new addition looks suspiciously similar to Scarlett Johansson. One of my favorite movies with her is Lucy, so that one was easy. Sometimes Hollywood does the naming for you :slightly_smiling_face:

Still gotta get around to reading that one. Pynchon is one of those writers I need some extra time to get through.

I will only bore you with how I named my main squeeze CJ. The name Abyss gave their new head at the time, to commemorate their 15th anniversary back in 2012 was Crystal. It was the only head that I thought resembled Jenna Jameson who I was quite smitten with back in the day . Back then my naming strategy was Use the manufacture name and one of my own. Trouble was Crystal Jenna or Jenna Crystal was a name combo that I really didn’t like and didn’t really roll off the tongue so to speak. It was so obvious but it took a member of “ The Forum We Shall Not Name “ to reply to one of my posts and refer to her as CJ. It stuck and the rest is history.

I’m very similar to Shamus in that the girls tend to let me know their names in their own good time once they arrive. On the odd occasion they let me know before they arrive but that is the exception rather than the rule.

Hmm, how did I miss? This is always a fun topic!

I have two rules when it comes to names. The name must end with the letter “a” and I can’t reuse the first letter of a name already used. So eventually I’ll have 26…well doll heads, as that is what gets the name, and almost every doll I have has multiple heads.

I did break my rule once.

So I’d like to go through the alphabet.

A. Angelica - because she’s a Starpery Flora who resembles Angelina Jolie, but is not Angelina.

B. Biannca - my first doll. I’ve always just loved the name.

C. Cora - an old favorite WM, or something. Being an adult male in the ‘90’s, and loving sexy, healthy women (still do), I was infatuated with fitness and nude glamour model Cori Nadine. But I couldn’t use Cori. I am also a big fan of the musician Taj Mahal, and love his song “Corinna”. So, combining those two things, I got Cora.

D. This is were I broke one of my rules. First I had Deanna…named after sexy space momma Deanna Troi. Loved the name and the head, it got retired though, and I just loved the name Deja. I just had to use it, and I think it fits my Deja. So I’m OK with breaking my rule, but I won’t break it again, not till all 26 letters are used up.

E. I don’t have this doll yet. It’s nearly complete. Like I’ve said in the doll wish list topic, I don’t really have a wish list of dolls I want. One type of doll I’ve been chasing though, an upgrade of my first doll, Biannca, who was an Amazon knockoff. I love short and petite, that was Biannca, petite with nice boobs. I’ve been chase her body type, and I believe I found it in the SineemDoll 148cm body. When I saw that body, I had to order me one. I went with the Harper head.
So with this doll, I again turn to song. I’m a big Urge Overkill fan, the Saturation album is a desert island album for me, every song is great. I was never a day time soap opera watcher, but Urge Overkill made a song about popular All My Children star, Susan Lucci’s sexy trouble making character, Erica Kane.
I wanted to reserve the letter “e” doll name for Elvira, but I don’t think I’ll ever get an Elvira. I look at the SineemDoll Harper….standing at 148cm with D cups….I think trouble…I think Erica Kane! That will be her name.

F. Being an adult male in ‘90’s and a porn watcher, I loved seeing G/G only actress Felecia perform on other women. She was sexy, and great name, but she don’t look like my Felisha. No, my Felisha was my first ebony doll, and I borrowed from the classic movie “Friday”. But instead of people saying “Bye Felicia” to that Crack head chick in the movie, they would be saying “Hi Felisha” to my sexy Felisha.

G. Gia - My Top-cydoll Scarlett, who resembles Angelina Jolie, but is not Angelina. I named her after the woman Angelina portrays in the movie of the same name “Gia”. It’s a very fitting name for that doll.

H. Haruka - My other Top-cydoll head, a Wan head. An Asian style head. No significance with this name, just following my rules.

I. Ichika - Being a big Jimi Hendrix fan, I was saving the letter “i” for Izabella. Great name, Great song. But with my Lusandy Mizuki, I was wanting an Asian style name, and saw Ichika and loved it.

J. Jayla - My 3rd doll. No significance, just liked the name and followed my rules.

K. Kaya - My Kaya, a personal favorite doll. She had lots of fans. Named after the Bob Marley song “Kaya”. Great name.

L. Not used yet

M. Mileena - ah yes, Mileena, my Starpery Misa! I was all set to name this head after the Mortal Kombat character, Kitana! I was sooo excited! Then I remembered my rule…I already had “k” with Kaya. I told my buddy about this, and said, “what about the other MK chick, Mileena?” Yes! If my best buddy is going to help me name a sex doll, I’m using that name. So that is Mileena.

N. Neakita - no significance, just following my rules.

O. Not used yet.

P. Perfidia - yes, my current favorite doll. Again I turn to music. Every year, I try to listen to new music, new genres, just so each year, my yearly Amazon music play list is diverse. One year, I got into big band music. Blown away by it. Great music. Listened to alot of Glenn Miller and his Orchestra, “ String of Pearls” what a song, of course “In the Mood” and others. They also performed the song “Perfidia”. It’s not a girls name, it’s not a name. It means treachery, betrayal, trouble. It’s a great song, truly is. I’ve been wanting that Jiusheng Rikki head for a long time. I waited a long time before that purchase. Those big eyes, she was going to be trouble, so I named her after the song.

Q. Not used yet. I want a fantasy type doll one day, maybe I can use “q” for an alien or elf type doll.

R. Not used yet.

S. Not used yet.

T. Teja - Just always like the name.

U. Not used yet.

V. Victoria - My 2nd doll! A real knockout! But stupid heavy! Named after the rockin Kinks song “ Victoria”.

W. Wynonna - no significance, just following my rules.

X. Xara - I just like the name.

Z. Zilda - I am a Classic Doctor Who fan. One of my most favorite stories is “The Robots of Death”. One of the cast members is a black actress named Tania Rogers, and she plays the character Zilda. So I named my 2nd ebony doll head after her.

I love naming dolls and I do it before I even create them. I usually have an idea in my head of the kind of personality and style I want for a doll.

Anastasia is Mr Lime’s girl. Our very first doll and green ambassador for House Lime! She is of mixed race in our mind (black/alien) and is a total badass!!! We sometimes just call her Ana but her name came from St. Augustine, Fl. Everything there has the name Anastasia on it and Mr Lime really liked it!

Aurora is the alternate head and personality for our green body. She is mine (the Mrs) and obviously as a female someone was going to get a princess name! I’ve always loved the name Aurora and after watching the show, Lucifer, I loved it even more when they used it and called her Rory for short. Aurora is a full blooded alien from Venus!

Dani & Lana were rehomed from our friend Billiam and they got to keep their names! They share a Funwest 159a body! Again, with two heads, Mr Lime and I decided to each claim a girl. So Dani is my girl who is your typical girl next door vibe, she is a sorority sister, and as I remind her often, a virgin who can’t drive (that’s a movie reference for those who don’t get it )! Lana has a more stern expression on her face. She gives us a hardcore Russian vibe.. hope we don’t get on her bad side! :eyes:

Drusilla is my 1/6 scale Phicen. She is named after the character on Buffy. I always loved Drusilla, even if she was crazy! Haha! She doesn’t get much screen time around here as she has very minimal clothes and accessories. My intentions with her were to make her goth and I wanted to recreate true crime stories but have her “telling the story” by acting the scenes out in photography.. maybe I’ll get there one day!

Astrid was another rehome. Idk how or why.. Astrid is just what I wanted to name her! Im not sure what she was called before. I think I remembered a movie I used to watch when I was younger named White Oleander, the girl was in and out of foster homes but her name was Astrid and I felt sympathy for her. Maybe that’s how this happened, Astrid definitely needed a new home and has thrived ever since!

Mia is our goth girl! She was the SE doll giveaway at the 2025 Halloween doll meet. I named her before we even attended the meet and I do think this helped me win her! I was interested in silicone, as we hadn’t had any up til this point, so I was open to participating in the giveaway drawing! Upon seeing the head choice for the giveaway, I just said “she looks like a Mia” and that was her name since.. then we decided to make her goth and I thought of the actress Mia Goth.

Penelope is rehomed from dollface. If you know, you know! Penelope was named and her personality was shaped after Penelope from Criminal Minds! What a sexy, smart woman!!! I do have a tendency to call her “Peen-uh-lope” (another movie quote!) We love Penelope!!!

Grant was also a rehome from dollface! He fits in very well around here with the ladies!!! And just think.. they haven’t even seen his promotion photos online!!! They don’t even know he’s a model and superstar!! I think, we’d have a fight on our hands. I’m keeping his secret!

Simone is Mr Lime’s ebony girl! She is sassy and got some hood in her. Let’s be honest, she bosses Mr Lime around and he probably likes it! He has a much harder time choosing names.. so I was just throwing some names out to him and this one stood out!

Ophelia is my ebony girl! She is a sweetheart! I wanted a name that began with an O. My alternative name was Octavia but it didn’t fit her look. Ophelia felt softer and it’s perfect for my girl!

Sofie is our 1/3 Smartdoll!! We rehomed her from our good friend baldy!! I believe her name was Felicity or something similar but Mr Lime and I had been throwing around the name Fiona and calling her Fi. We didn’t think Fiona fit her very well so I said “what about Sofie and call her Fi?!” And so, she was Sofie!

MANY, MANY MORE TO COME!!!

Don’t mind me, but I wanted to update my list.

This update is brought to you by the letter “Y”, for Yoona.

Y. Yoona - So I’m a big fan of watching and collecting movies. My wall of movies has been a back drop many times for photoshoots. My favorite genre of movies is Westerns, and wanted to think of a name for a doll around that. The remake of “3:10 to Yuma” was recently on the tv….and it hit me, Yuma! The letter “y” was still open….but shit, I can’t name one of my dolls after an old western prison! Lol. So more thinking, and I came up with Yoona!

Z. Zilda - I am a Classic Doctor Who fan. One of my most favorite stories is “The Robots of Death”. One of the cast members is a black actress named Tania Rogers, and she plays the character Zilda. So I named my 2nd ebony doll head after her
