My excellent doll stand from Coeros!

Firstly I would like to give a big thank you to Coeros for giving me the opportunity to review one of their doll stands.

Lilian, one of my FunWest beauties, offered to assist with this review and she was the first to test it out.

I shall lead with unboxing, then building the stand and finish with a couple of photos of the stand in use along with my personal and honest opinion.

The package arrived and was slightly crumpled in transit but being a heavy item it will have been underneath other packages and there was no damage or missing parts.

All parts were securely packaged inside the box with plenty of bubble wrap.

Pads are attached to the underside of the base to protect hard wood or laminate flooring, the base has a reassuring weight and solidity to it.

The upright bar extends to accommodate different sized dolls and locks into place easily and securely.

It has a nice solid circular plate for stability and is bolted to the base from underneath. A combined allen key/screwdriver is included, which is handy and convenient.

An angled fitting attaches to the top of the extended upright bar for use as a back rest stand.

The backrest/seat is suitably padded and has a nice and soft white fabric covering so absolutely no issues regarding stains.

The cover is zipped in place which will be very handy if it needs cleaning. It also has two fitted buckles for the waist strap to attach to.

A short piece of tubing attaches the seat to the post when used as a backrest, a screw locks the two together.

The rubber-tyred wheels move smoothly but not too quickly so your lovely lady won’t suddenly skate across the room if you bump into her while on the stand. They have a feeling of quality and I have no concerns that they will break of collapse.

All four feet have a lock which you apply by pressing with your foot, hook your foot under it and push upwards to release the lock. It works very well and is secure. You will need one or two 1/2 inch/13mm spanner to attach the feet and there are two nylon washers on each foot, one for underneath the base and one for above.

To be continued in the next post…

The backrest is now securely in place and Lilian approves.

You can see how the backrest fits to the angled bracket by the short tube, everything goes together easily and locks securely, a must when you are trusting it with your sweetheart.

Remove the short tube and the angled bracket, then the seat fits directly onto the top of the upright bar.

The upright bar can be connected to one of two holes, the rearmost on is for use as a backrest so her feet are standing on the base, the centre hole is for use as a seat so all weight is centralised.

Now is the time to test the stand out! Lilian is my heaviest girl at 40kg so I felt she would be a decent test subject. I also fitted the included velcro strap to her to test and demonstrate it. Feed the strap through one of the backrest buckles, across her waist with the fluffy side against her tummy (Ensure you do not have the rough side against her or there will likely be abrasion), through the other buckle, pull it nice & snug and press the velcro together. It is a very secure way to quickly hold her in place if you intend moving her around your home on the stand.

The wheels are also excellent for rotating her around for varied posing positions.

A loose shirt is a great way to hide the backrest and avoid removing it in post-processing, in the second photo I would only have to remove the bar although I have left it in for this photo to show she is on the stand.

My other FunWest sweetheart is Romi, she isn’t a standing model so I love the stand as a seat as it takes some of her weight off her feet. On this occasion I removed the wheels to show it in use flat on the floor, my intention for full body shots is to have it flat and have a rug or mat covering the base of the stand.

I will admit to having some nerves about the seat, my thought was that dolls are top heavy and it might be possible that she would just topple off it, this was not the case at all. I had set the seat at roughly the right height but it was a touch too low, when I put her in place she rested nicely within the curve and already seemed safe, I adjusted the seat so it was snug against her crotch and I was happy to leave her there in the knowledge that nothing untoward was going to happen.

I absolutely love this stand with all its variety of position and use, with 40kg Lilian leaning against the backrest the upright bar felt solid and secure, as a seat the weight is pressing down directly on the stand and again it felt perfectly stable. It is very easy to put together and change between seat and backrest. Always make sure everything as tightened securely, that is obvious but worth stating.

Standing photos have always been a pain for me because my flat isn’t big enough for me to have items a doll can safely lean against and if I did they would likely be in every photo so I have to lean her against the wall, this often creates distracting and ugly shadows on the wall, this stand is perfect as I can now have enough distance between her and the wall for shadows to be non-existent or out of frame, as can be seen in the photos.

I am extremely impressed with the solidity of the stand and the versatility it offers, and Coeros are a pleasure to deal with in my experience. I highly recommend considering one of the four versions of this stand although I would definitely say that unless you are on a tight budget then the version I have reviewed is well worth it for its multi-functionality.

This stand is going to get a lot of use!

Coeros has assured me that the stand has been successfully tested with dolls up to 50kg, which covers most in current production and is good to know. I wouldn’t be surprised if it supports more than that as a seat due to the weight being on her feet and on the seat pressing directly down on the upright bar as opposed to leaning against it, however I don’t have a doll that heavy to test it to such extremes.

Hello,

Thank you once again for writing such a detailed review of the dual-function stand. Of course, we also greatly appreciate the cooperation of the two FunWest beauties, Lilian and Romi, who took so many wonderful photos.

From the photos, it really looks like Lilian is personally introducing the details of the stand to us, my attention is always drawn to her, haha.

We always feel a bit regretful when we see the condition of the packaging box. We are currently updating the packaging for the dual-function stand to prevent damage caused by rough handling during transportation. At present, our packaging updates still have some shortcomings, and we will continue to pay close attention to feedback from friends who receive the package.

Securing the stand with Velcro around the waist to ensure safety during movement is a thoughtful method. Choosing loose clothing to cover the stand during doll photography is also a very practical tip, thank you for sharing!

Your and Lilian’s detailed demonstration of each part and the switch between the waist and hip positions is very helpful for friends who want to learn more about the stand. As you mentioned, it mainly supports dolls that already have a standing function by providing assistance at the waist or hip area. So most of the weight is concentrated on the doll’s feet, with some force on the seat, and the maximum load of 50kg is sufficient for most dolls.

In conclusion, we are very happy to see such beautiful photos and hope that Lilian and Romi also enjoyed their time posing on the stand. We look forward to seeing more of your photos in the future!

Best regards,
Coeros

Romi in a dress and showing how easy it is to hide the stand as a seat…

Very minimal processing for this photo and you can see that the stand has been used as i didn’t remove it from between Romi’s legs but as you can see, a dress or preferably a loose skirt will hide the stand as a seat very well!

It seems like a well designed product for what it is.

I don’t have one and have no experience but I think this style of stand is more suitable for interaction with the doll in an upright stance position or storage in a closet.

I do have a couple of negative comments in the context of photography though:

The pad should be black. At first I thought it had a protective cover you had yet to remove. I looked on the website and saw that this is the pad. Black would be more practical for photography.

Also for photography you just cannot get away from the way the pad creates obvious signs that it is there, (i.e. bunched up clothing at the crotch). A hook in the back is better for photography.

That’s a really helpful photography tip, thanks for sharing!

Thank you! We’re also very happy to meet you! We hope our accessories can be helpful for you and your girl!

I’m currently looking at your stands. Glad I found this topic as it has a tonne of info I was looking for. I plan on using it for a standing doll. It looks as if one with a backrest is the best option then, am I right?

Thanks for your interest in our dual-function stands!

If you’re using it to help your doll stand for photos, then yes, the backrest option would definitely be more suitable. It’s relatively easier to hide in photos compared to the hip support.

Hope this helps!
