This is a review of the Coeros Dual Function Doll Stand with wheels. For full disclosure; Coeros sent this stand to me gratis for the purpose of this review and all thoughts and opinions in this review are my own. All images shown are of the product sent and taken by myself.
Packaging
Do we get excited about boxes? Of course we do when its a doll related product, but perhaps more about the contents than the box. So lets just say the stand ships in a sturdy double wall box, with no markings so discretion is assured
Inside, we have several bundles of parts and the main base plate, all wrapped very securely in bubble wrap.
Cant see anything bad happening to this during a normal transit even if the couriers decide to be less than gentle.
Parts
So what’s under all those bubbles?
Base Plate, Column, Wheels, 90’ bend, Saddle/Backrest, Velcro Strap, and the needed Allen Key
The Base is 4.5mm thick stainless steel. It’s got chonk! There are mount holes in each corner for the supplied castor wheels, and 2 holes to mount the column. Centre for Saddle, Rear for Backrest. There are also rubber pads attached on the underside for grip on smooth floors. The bolt to attach the column ships in the base of the column.
The Saddle/Backrest is also constructed from 4.5mm Stainless steel (slightly less chonk) with a padded fleece cover. The cover is removable and I would assume hand washable should it get dirty. The cover simply zips on and off. There are 2 buckles on the cover for the attachment of the Velcro strap.
The castors are rubber with individual wheel locks to allow the stand to be moved, then locked in place, ensuring your darling doesn’t wander off during a photoshoot.
The Column is a 2 part chromed steel tube with 2 lock screws. It attaches to the base via a single bolt through the base into a captured nut. The lock screws allow for more than enough tension to lock the stand height, and I have had a 43Kg silicone lady in the saddle with no issues. (No, I’m not going to rephrase that!)
Did I mention the Chonk?
Yeah, she chonk!
Assembly
Assembly is simple. Select which function you wish to use, screw the column to the base using the appropriate hole, then attach the saddle directly to the top of the column for saddle mode, or attach the 90’ bend to the top of the column and the saddle to the bed for use as a Backrest.
The Castors simply bolt through the 4 corner holes should you wish to fit them.
Adjustment
Adjustment is tool-less and performed by loosening off the 2 locking screws on the column and then raising or lowering. Pretty easy to do, and I found that having the doll stand over the saddle, then move it up to meet her was a fairly simple thing to do.
Minimum saddle height is 68cm with a maximum of about 102cm, so if someone releases an 8ft tall doll you’re covered. Minimum heights when in Backrest mode are about 8cm higher due to the 90’ bend.
Usage
Pictures say more than words, so here’s a couple of pics of Sophie using the stand. Sophie is a FunwestDoll 159A and weights about 33Kg.
Saddle mode
Backrest mode, or in this case; lounge against it cos you’re bored and want to get back to tiktok mode…
With a little posing and prep the stand can be hidden as well (It’s in there in saddle mode.)
Thoughts
This is a solid bit of kit. It’s well made and well presented and has some nice easy to use features like the locking wheels and tool-less adjustment of the column height.
Its sturdy, and I’ve had dolls standing on it for 8-12 hours at a time with no concerns over stability or strength.
The Saddle/Rest is well made, and extremely strong, though may be too narrow for dolls with larger waists to snug back into it fully. Certainly Lexie, my FunWestDoll 168, with her 64cm waist was not able to snug back into the saddle when in Backrest mode. In Saddle mode there was no issues at all.
This is an expected compromise, if the saddle were big enough to accommodate larger waists it would be too big to be discrete as a saddle. I don’t count this as a negative, just an observation considering the variety of doll body styles currently available.
The only things I felt were a slight negative were the Velcro strap and buckles. The buckles have rounded corners but still offer a potential danger to dolls when things are being moved about. The Velcro strap is also sewn in such a way as to be hook one side and loop the other meaning it can only be used in a wrap around manner. I would have preferred to see rounded plastic buckles with a strap that could be doubled back onto itself to allow for a really secure attachment.
Those 2 minor points aside, this is a very solid and capable stand, and looks good enough to be used as a display stand as well as for photography or day to day “storage”.
A well earned 9.5/10 from me for this one Coeros! Keep up the good work.
Karrot.
