Good evening everyone! I started on the new version doll companion storage cabinet today……..but I ran into a bit of a problem………..got a crappy sheet of cabinet grade plywood that started to delaminate when I cut it. So, I went ahead and glued it up and pressed it, so I will continue the build tomorrow and post photos of its progress.

In the meantime, I have been thinking about the knobs I put on the 1st version cabinet, and they just didn’t look right. So……..off they came and I replaced the knobs with handles.

so, from this…..

to this

The knobs will go on the false drawer fronts for the new version cabinet I’m working on now.

Have a good one, and Happy Dolling!

Good afternoon all! As promised, I made some progress on the new version single doll companion storage cabinet today. Here is where it’s at so far.

The frame assembly.

The clearances for the opening. The vertical clearance after the tray is in place will be about 16 inches, which is more than what I had on the 1st version 2 stack cabinet.

Here is the top storage tray bottom and back installed.

Here’s the hardware I am using.

And the final component assembly.

The false drawer front panel is hinged to the top and folds back when it is raised. The lock will be installed at the bottom of this panel.

Here is where it’s at. I need to pickup the same edge molding I used on the 1st version cabinet. Then final sand and paint it. I will build the tray while the paint is drying, so by tomorrow, it should be done, and I can move it Wednesday to its new home.

Happy Dolling!

Thanks so much for the nice comment @DollDoll , but I gotta say that this is not that hard to do. I started these projects with the tray length and width for my doll companions as a set measurement. 6 foot by 20 inches. Then its just a matter of making the opening in the cabinets wide enough to fit the trays. The vertical opening had to be a minum 14 1/2 inches, to clear some of the bustier gals in my crew with a few inches to spare. The 2 stack cabinet I built first was WAY too complicated with all the bells and whistles I put in it, but this single doll cabinet is pretty easy to do. I will put together a materials list and build instructions pamphlet for this one. With a little patience, most folks will be able to build it if they want to. That’s my intent with this anyway. I will likely not store my gals in these cabinets. I like having my gals out and about, and I’m so close to my wings I give a rat’s patootie about what other folks might think of my chosen inhabitance in the doll companion world. But I read posts all the time about seeking a way to store doll companions out of sight, so ………….what the heck……I’ll try to build one that anybody can build.

Well, this long winded post burned up my yakkin’ genes for the night!

Good afternoon everyone! Well……sometimes things go right, and sometimes things go frikkin’ wrong………..but today……..ALL IS GREAT IN THE WORLD!

The new version, single doll companion private storage cabinet is finished!

Here is the cabinet body, top and drawer false fronts all painted up with the knobs installed.

Here is the tray. This design does not put any weight on the drawer glides. They only help align and guide the tray going in and out. The tray is on castors. It also detaches and can be moved around independently from the cabinet.

Tomorrow I will put the 4 inch memory foam pad on the tray and do a test demo. I only have a few things to put on tomorrow……the lock and the two barrel locks that will hold the tray in place when it is pushed in.

Happy Dolling!
