I am relatively new to the doll companion world we inhabit, Essence my first gal arrived last year on the 30th of October, so I’ve been around for one year. Prior to that decision, I had been happily married to a wonderful life partner for 44 years, but after 2 years of battling cancer, and winning, she unexpectedly passed, and I went into an emotional nosedive. I came across an article that talked about how doll companions were helpful in helping people deal with PTSD, emotional trauma, etc, and in desperation started researching that view. My search led me to various forums and after much soul searching, I pulled the trigger and ordered my first gal, Essence, a Starpery 165 D. My reaction to this event was staggering. I was completely blown away.
Have a great day, and Happy Dolling
Thanks so much for the nice comment @quillurion . My life partner was unique and one of a kind and her sudden loss was a gut punch! But the direction I was heading was not, to say the least, a positive one. Simply put, I stumbled into this world we all inhabit. It was NOT on my radar AT ALL prior to that. But when I first stuck my toes into this piranha pond I GOT BIT FOR SURE! I have been on an upswing of joy and fun ever since! And I love seeing the enjoyment of other members of this world depicted in their photos and videos of their doll companions so much!
Thanks again and Happy Dolling!
I also like to bring my gals fully into my life and give them a voice and say about things. Each of my gals has their own personalities and are usually not shy about voicing their opinions about things. Essence is the de facto leader of this crew. Here is a trading card I made of her and says a bit about her background. And they have all tagged me with the moniker “K” when they begin yapping at me!
That’s right K! LOL! It keeps things so simple, especially when we want to do a little shopping! LOL! Hello everyone, and we so look forward to sharing with you, and enjoying your girls’ photos and videos! Thank you for having us! Like K always says…….Happy Dolling everyone!
It was a pleasure to meet you and your group of Girls. Essence really stole my heart when i seen her in all the outfits you put her in. Now knowing some of your past im sorry the best people suffer the most. The universe is cruel, but community and the girls really help make life better. I got so make photos of your gals to share. Looks like i need to make my own thread now for all of my works. Cant wait to see your Girls in all of their beauty.
The pleasure was mutual! And your work was phenomenal! My efforts in that vein are more pointed towards music photo slide shows! As I stated earlier, I am the NEWB OF NEWBS to our world, and I have this Tanker mentality about me………”just keep plodding along, eventually I’ll figure it out!” Thus, my limited skills in photography! But it just so much fun, and I get so much enjoyment out of taking photos of my gals that I like to share them with everyone!
And Essence was especially taken with you!
K is right@Mysticforest768 ! It was so nice to meet you at the Doll Meet, and I really appreciated your nice comments to me! Thank you so much!
Here is a little video slide show I made to commemorate my first year Anniversary and it shows a little bit of how much I enjoy this genre and my gals, and how they and I evolved from the days they arrived!
Hi all! I like to put fun into the mundane things we all have to do to keep out gals in tip top shape! I know we all our willing participants in the Empty Wallet Club keeping our gals looking good, and wigs can become a constant drain on my wallet! So I have a routine that I use to keep them in good condition. And I thought, what the heck, make a video of it!
No reason to not have fun, even if the tasks are just part of the drill!
Hey dont worry, im a noob compared to @Mishka and destinyx. This was my first major video project ive done. Before this was a edit of my car but i lost motivation and some of the integral footage. Im just happy i did it. To be honest i was expecting it to flop the applause when the video finished was not anticipated on my part.
To essence. Ma’am it was an honor being in your presence and basking in your beauty. You got a wonderful person by your side and i hope to see more of you both!
That slide show is a great start. It easy to do what i did ita mainly getting small videos and stitching them together Cant wait to see how my efforts inspire your creativity.
What you just said was exactly what I thought would happen to me the first time I did a video slide show! And like you, I was floored by the responses! But I think that the joy and fun you had doing it is what shows and is appreciated by all that view it! My opinion is that is what is genuinely the result………..our gals photos and videos that we take and share are a small snapshot of our core feelings about our doll companions, regardless of the equipment we have at hand! And for me, the fun of doing them is what counts the most!
And…………I just have to do these when I get the chance! I did a lingerie shoot of my gals a while ago, and when I was doing it, the song "Baby Elephant March” by Henri Mancini kept popping up in my head, and I slapped a quick video slideshow together, and it was fun!
Thanks, and oh yeah! I am a big fan of Steampunk! I even did a photo and video series of the girls a while back, and I can post them here in the future. In fact, Essence won the competition for best costume wearing her steampunk attire at the East Coast Doll Meet.
Hi @kfiaoni First, Sorry for your loss.
Welcome, It became very evident after watching your videos that you seem to have taken to Doll Life like a duck takes to water. Your Gals are all very Lovely Nice work
Thank you for the nice comment. And yep! I got steamrollered by this world we live in! And I really am all in! I’ve always been a follower of the mantra that “if you like your work, then it ain’t work!” This last year for me has been a rollercoaster for me, but a joy just the same!
Some of us are gob smacked when we receive our dolls, sometimes the first, and sometimes the second. For me, EVERY time is unique and deserves a celebration of sorts. A member in another forum reached out to me to assist him in selling his doll, a Zelex 170cm C, brand new still in the box. Due to a VERY unique situation, where his wife was the initiator of this purchase, when the doll companion arrived, the wife went 180, said get it out or we are getting divorced. I ended up taking her. Here is a short capture of that event.
