The Triple G's Happy Haven

Nice work @kfiaoni  :100: I also have a pocket screw system, and I love what you can build with it.

Great handiwork and interesting storage solution.
Please take care to anchor it well, so the cabinet does not start to fall.

Thanks a lot @Leatherman @quillurion @Mr_Fix_it @poppy70 @dollface and @Mysticforest768 ! This started as a method to safely and securely transport my gals long distances, but it became clear that there have been many inquiries by some of how to privately store their gals away from prying eyes, and that this could be an option.

Definitely a consideration I am taking in this design. What I am going to do is have the left and right-side panels on ball bearing glides that will be able to pull forward of the cabinet. These will act as stabilizers for when the loaded trays are pulled out. (I realize my drawing is a bit lacking in details………I tend to build these things off an idea, and then I start adding the details as I build it.) I have some concrete block piers that I am going to use to test it (because I’m really not a knuckle head and am NOT gonna do the test with any of my gals! ). I am waiting on a heavy duty (440 lbs rating) bracket to fully stabilize the upper center tray glide support, then I will pick back up on this. As well as the castors. Should be tomorrow.

Good thing I have a dolly……….I still have to move this thing into the girls’ ready room after I finish it!

Happy Dolling!

………well………..things didn’t go as planned today.

  1. The hinges I ordered came in today WIN!!!
  2. But when mounted I needed to raise the trays about 3/4” to clear them
  3. then my daughter needed help with something at her house…………sigh………….
  4. and then my “get up and go…….got up and went!”

And I really HATE doin’ things twice!!! :face_with_symbols_on_mouth:

So, no real update on the cabinet today. But tomorrow morning, I plan (….meh………right………) to get after it and mount the side stabilizer panels, the tray hardware, and use two 55 lb concrete pier blocks to test the trays to make sure the thing is stable and can handle 110 lbs when fully extended.
And as my daughter happens to be workin’ at home tomorrow, I can only hope no other distractions come my way…….hope is the operative term here!

Then the holiday will tie me up, so I might have a quick update tomorrow evening, or not til Friday evening.

Have a great holiday everyone, and Happy Dolling!

Hey all! I have a little update on the transport/storage cabinet to share today. I was able to install the side panel/stabilizers and test the trays with a load of 140 lbs. (the blocks I THOUGHT weighed 55 lbs were actually 70 lbs! ) and the trays as you will see handled that load just fine.

So, here ya go!

This shows the side panels retracted where they would be normally seen when not actively loading or unloading the trays.

This shows the side panel stabilizers pulled forward. They are mounted on heavy duty ball bearing glides for easy forward and rearward movement.

At the top of each side panel I have installed a barrel bolt lock. This ensures the panels are locked into the cabinet for max stability.

Here’s the upper tray loaded and deployed.

And the lower tray put through it’s paces.

Each tray has this cable support stay at both ends to lend additional support to the tray when fully extended and loaded.

This arrived after I left the shop. It is a heavy duty bracket rated at 550 lbs. This will be installed under the upper tray center support frame and will be backed up with a metal plate to guard agains undue strain on the wooden members of the cabinet.

So today was a win for testing the concept. Now it’s beautification time! Put the finish stiles on the side panels, the false drawer fronts and top. Then paint the whole thing followed by final installation of the hardware, including the castors.

That’s it for today! Wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving, and Happy Dolling!

Very impressive!

There are a select few people I know who I consider able to do anything!

My #1 of course is Rod @Leatherman

My good friend @Mr_Fix_it

And now you, @kfiaoni

I have to wonder what would happen if we put the 3 of you together

Good morning everyone! We hope all of you had a great day yesterday! And thanks for nice comments @Mr_Fix_it and @dollface ! I really appreciate it!
Today I am gonna pause on the cabinet build. I have decided that the top would be a hinged lid to allow for storing some items like microfiber blankets, the patient lift slings, etc. I have the hinges ordered and they will arrive later today. I think also that I am going to use maple or birch for the stiles, and cabinet grade birch ply for the top. So I have to pick that up from the local lumber supple today.

In reality though, the real reason I’m takin’ a break from building this is…………I have sorely neglected the Triple G gals, and I just want to spend a little time with them, maybe starting to get what we want to do for a little bit different Christmas photo shoot.

Have a great day all, and Happy Dolling!

Thank you, @quillurion @Mysticforest768 , for the nice comments! I do believe it will serve it’s purposes very well. And maybe not look too shabby or out of place as a piece of furniture in a bedroom. And maybe some members may be able to utilize something like this to privately store their doll companions away from prying eyes.

Have a good day, and Happy Dolling!
