Wig Preferences

I am interested to know how you feel about wigs.

We all know we need them for our girls. Obviously doll makers agree since they ship a girl complete with some sort of hair!

But how do you like those factory wigs?
In our experience, some are better than others but none of them are great.

We usually replace the factory wigs with an after market wig that suits the style and personality we see in our girls. The more excited we are with a doll, the more we are willing to spend. :moneybag:

We have our best luck :four_leaf_clover: with these sites:

Wigs.com or namebrandwigs.com

Shopping both sites will often result in finding what you want at 30% off the retail price.

The synthetic hair is more manageable than the factory wigs as well as more believable. They shed less and last longer too.

We recently began experimenting with different looks.
Fun and Flirty looks mixed with a bit of fantasy. Colors and styles that make us think outside the box.

We found this site:

This is a fun find! We have ordered 4 wigs from them now. All for dolls that have not arrived yet! :joy:

They are relatively inexpensive but I cannot report on how they last at this point. I will update later.

The only downside we have found for this seller so far…when they re-stock they tend to sell out quickly.

Now my question: How do you deal with wigs?

Factory?

Aftermarket?

Do you have a favorite brand?

Where do you shop?

Thank you in advance for your feedback. I think this will be helpful!

I’ll check out those sites, thanks for posting them! :100:

I like to go with lace front wigs whenever possible.

The best factory wig I’ve gotten with a doll was from Elsababe with their Molly Redwolf doll, it was lace front and nice quality.

If I remember correctly the best factory wigs that I have received so far was from WM/ Angel Kiss and Tayu, but still have aftermarket wigs on all my dolls.

I’m super duper cheap when it comes to wigs though lol. I have them from Amazon and Shein. While Shein can be hit or miss (mostly hit) they’re actually not too bad ESPECIALLY for the price!

I’m with JD, kind of a cheapo on wigs, I have bought some expensive wigs but didn’t have great luck with them
I’ve found some Amazon wigs that are pretty nice, it’s hit and miss with cheap wigs
I like anime style wigs a lot and for those I go to Youvimi

Oh yea they also have some insane outfits at Youvimi… sorry about your wallet

I generally stick with the factory wigs unless they are really awful; I replaced Azrael’s wig because it wore out but now Carmen uses it sometimes. Azrael is a bit worse for battling the Dark Side for a couple thousand years, so the old wig kinda looks real on her

I am still trying to find a better wig than the Kimber wig as that really is cheap, but matching in the same style has been a big PitA.

Generally go for Amazon.

Hang in there. You will find one for the Kimber!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Factory wigs head straight to the trash. I normally get a human hair wig from Temu that is either the color or style I want or can be recolored and cut into the style I want. For the Human Hair wigs I usually pay $35 to $55 . Human Hair wigs are much easier to take care of cause they tangle less, less likely to frizz and style easier. Plus you can just use normal shampoo and conditioner. I have a couple that are over a year old and still look and feel great.

I guess I’ve been lucky and found some pretty decent wigs/hair from local beauty supply stores around …they have pretty competitive pricing from online and other accesories (nails, make up,stockings, costume jewelry etc) even supplies to make your own wigs if you have the patience and time. Currently favorite wig brand is Bobbi Boss they seem to have a good collection of style and colors at decent prices.(synthetic)

I hate factory wigs. Hey, ya get wut ya pay for. Some of the H2K wigs are synthetic lace front and some are human hair capless. Neither are cheap, but in my opinion they do make big difference. Synthetic wigs do seem to hold their style longer than the human hair ones, but both require a little blow dryer and curling iron action now and then.

So much of a girl’s personality comes from the wig choice!

And your girls have Personality Plus!

It’s great to hear what works for everyone :+1:

20 quid wigs from amazon here. Retailers like HairCube, Esemee, WokeStar (great name…)

I generally steam and style as is right for the girl in question, and wigs can last for years even with constant bed time and a busy photo schedule. Maddie’s first wig lasted about 2 years. A pillow case under her shoulder, neck, and head to allow your arm to slide under that without catching her hair saves a lot of time with the tangle teaser.

I always mod the wig to make it tight to the head so that up-do’s are possible, and bangs generally get feathered to make things as cute as can be…

Stock wigs get binned fast.

Nice comment K!

We bought our first ESMEE wig because we loved Maddie’s so much :purple_heart:
And it has lasted really well!
In fact, we bought others too!

As most folks know, My preference is Human hair wigs and implants. I’ve a box full of factory wigs that just takes up space. Having said that, Katja sports a synthetic doo as does Orla. All the rest of the gals here have Human hair.

Oops, I almost forgot about Julie Bedhead. AFAIK She also has a synthetic wig. I bought it from Mr & Ms Lime. I’m pretty sure it’s synthetic.
