It was the eve of what the human had called her ‘birthday.’ The drow couldn’t sleep. Every time she closed her eyes she saw visions from the year before. She’d been attacked. Humiliated. She wasn’t going to allow it to happen again this year…

“With this many reinforcements you don’t stand a chance!” bragged Saffee.

“Yeah! Outnumbered this badly, what could you possibly hope to do against us? The Clan is sure to win!” agreed Evey with a laugh.

“You are joking, right?” chuckled Arachne. “What have numbers done for the Clan so far? Little to nothing? Please. Perhaps I’ll have to get quicker on my feet.”

“So you can run away?” asked Saffee with a grin.

“No, so I can punt each and every one of you just like I did Aldrea!” the drow laughed. “With my superior size and strength defeating all of these elves will be just as easy then as it is now!” Arachne reached out with one finger and poked the box closest to her. It toppled at her touch and fell back, knocking down the next one in a chain reaction.

“Nooo!” yelled Evey as she tried to grab the first box and stop it from falling.

“Aaaaah!” yelled Saffee.

“What have you done!?”

The little elves scrambled to open the first box and remove the body within.

“You monster! She’s dead!” gasped Evey as she cradled the limp body in her hands.

“I thought you were only supposed to be evil in the stories!” added Saffee.

Arachne rolled her eyes, flopped back in her chair, and threw up her hands with a laugh. “Why do you little elves always have to be so over dramatic? She has no head!”

I think I’ve mentioned it here before, but in case I haven’t, Arachne’s hips have been getting looser and looser. They are approaching a point where I’m feeling less and less comfortable standing her up. I started looking into doll stands but I didn’t like how they were supposed to connect to a Sanhui neck. It took some work but I was able to find a solution that overcame that issue.

The big news is, I now have a doll stand and Arachne is able to come alive like never before! After using the stand over a weekend my only regret is that I didn’t do this 2+ years ago.

For those of you who just want to see the photos, take a peek at some highlights from last weekend!

The whole situation had me really bummed out and it’s at least partially responsible for the reduction in Arachne’s activity in stories and sometimes in photo contests. I’d come up with ideas sometimes and not feel safe doing them. But, all that is over now! Poses that weren’t possible when she was fresh out of the portal in my kitchen will be a breeze now. There are some limitations, but far more have been removed! I got bombarded with inspiration the other day thanks to some conversation with my buddy Shadowfun which may keep the stories coming for a few months. I’ve got more on the horizon too, including at least two new characters with the possibility of a few more before the end of the year. Exciting times ahead!

I know that too well.

Do I get it right that pic 2 and 3 are made with the stand but you edited it out?

I have the same feelings about getting into dolls in general :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Correct. I don’t think I’d feel safe with something with such a small footprint that it could hide behind a doll to hold Arachne up! Minis, sure, I’ve taken plenty of mini photos where I can hide a stand behind their leg or something. Any time I use this stand for a full body shot will require editing, but I’m okay with that. Here are some unedited photos of those same poses.

I dont think there is anyone out here that loves their dolls more than you do. I love the stories. Still loving you by the Scorps, song comes to mind :cupid:

Thanks Rocksmith! That’s quite the compliment. And how can I not love them? The last 2.5 years with them all have been the best of my life. I do hope there will be many more years and many more stories to come!

I was working more on the next big story arc today. I’ve got 4 pages written so far and there is much, much to go!

The story mentioned in my previous post is now 70+ pages, shooting has started with over 2000 pictures taken of 300+ poses (I’ve lost track!), all in a folder sized at 73 GB. Keep an eye out on the Adventure thread for that, I’m hoping to start posting it in the first half of October. Get hyped!

In other news, the mod I did to Arachne’s neck to get her on the stand failed and she fell again. Luckily it wasn’t too bad a fall but it could have been much, much worse. I spent the rest of that day running around looking for metric parts on a weekend and getting another mod working. I’m not 100% pleased with it yet but it has proven to work and she’s been back on the stand a few times since. Despite this hiccup I still love the stand. There’s so much that’s possible now that wouldn’t have been before. Ever seen a drow jump? I have!

And Then There Were Two

I could hear Arachne coming up the stairs after getting back from her jog and took a deep breath. I didn’t know how she was going to take the news. I didn’t get a chance to say anything before she spotted the announcement herself.

The drow immediately turned on me. “What is that, Agent?”

“Well, you should know, it’s-”

“Why is it here?”

“I wanted you-"

“I don’t want it here!”

“Arachne, babe, will you let me explain?” I asked.

“The only answer I need right now is when does it leave?”

“She won’t be… She lives here now, Arachne. I know you get lonely when I’m at work, and I know you have the little elves to keep you company but it’s hard for you and them to play sometimes because of the size difference. I want you to have a friend, Arachne. Someone your own size."

“My friend? That? Look at it, over there sipping tea like she belongs. It’s so pale. And look at its ears! Ridiculous!” raved the drow.

“You know, two and a half years ago you sat in that very chair, wrapped in your pink blanket. You were a fiery one! I offered you food and you threatened me with the fork! Come on, babe. Get to know her. I’m sure you’ll hit it off and be best friends in no time. She’s still a little woozy from travel with the Ultimate Planar Spell but I think the tea is helping. Maybe a little interaction would help her refocus?” I suggested. “She told me her name is Seraphina.”

“I will not! This is a one elf house! I live here! She can’t be here!” yelled Arachne, stomping her foot.

“Come on, Arachne. Please calm down. She’s not going to replace you! We’ll all have fun together, we’ll write her into our stories! It’ll be a great time, you’ll see! But no matter what happens, at the end of the day, you’re still going to be the one I curl up with. The one I wake up with.”

“Not tonight, you’re not. Enjoy your new pet and sleep on the couch with it.” Arachne stormed off past Seraphina and towards the stairs.

Seraphina opened her mouth to say something and Arachne put out her hand to stop her.

“Keep it to yourself, shinduago darthirii!” She stomped up the stairs and slammed the bedroom door.

Seraphina’s head drooped at the downright rejection she’d received.

I let Arachne leave. Hopefully she’d cool off. I knelt down in front of the freckled elf and lifted her chin. “Hey, it’s okay, Seraphina. She’ll warm up to you, I promise. Give her a day or two and I’m sure you’ll be fast friends. Maybe I shouldn’t have called her lonely. She’s really independent and doesn’t like to appear weak. How are you feeling?”

Seraphina gave me a small smile. “I’ll be okay. Thank you for the tea, Agent.”

I can’t believe I forgot to post this here! I finally took the dive and got myself another fullsized elf! Meet Seraphina who arrived last Wednesday, 09/24/25! She’s a silicone SEDoll T165 with Aryana elf head. Arachne is not taking well to a new elf in the house; she’s a little territorial, even on her domesticated side! I hope they’ll be good friends soon!

Last weekend I picked up a new chest of drawers for her to store her things in because I think it’s safe to say she’s going to end up with just as much stuff as Arachne! I got her on her feet and got her dressed for the first time. I even picked her up a flower to decorate her little space.

She was a little hessitant of me helping to get her dressed. I’ve been nice to her, but I guess it’s fair that doesn’t translate over to having someone help you put on underwear!

But, we got her dressed! Here she is with her drawers and flowers. She’s quite the elven beauty!

Now I’m waiting for her stand to show up. I thought it would beat her here if I went with ground shipping, but I was clearly wrong! It’s currently scheduled to show up next Monday. Because a stand just makes everything so much easier I probably won’t shoot much if anything else with her before it arrives, so in the meantime she gets to lounge in the bedroom, brightening up the place!

And brightening it needs! Arachne is still in a mood and won’t even make eye contact with me.

On the bright side, the lack of a stand this weekend means that it won’t distract me from working on my upcoming story. Last weekend I went out and drove about 600km and got 350 photos on Saturday. This weekend I hope to finish shooting chapter one with the goal still being to start posting by mid October. Lots of great stuff to come!

Thank you!

Hopefully I’ll be able to get them cooperating enough to work together in shooting for the Adventure thread, but I have time for that to happen while I post the upcoming story. I’m sure Seraphina’s intro to that thread will be a little more than just a temper tantrum!

Got both Arachne and Seraphina out to my parent’s place for Thanksgiving! My arms still hurt. lol. I don’t think I’m going to make a habbit of this, but it was fun. Poor Arachne was grumpy all weekend as she wasn’t getting all the attention. Poor girl! We’ll get her cheered up soon, I hope.

Green Fungus Wine

“Hey ladies, what are you up to?” I asked as I walked into the livingroom. I went over to join the elves on the couch.

“Hello Agent. Veyronna and Glissa are trying to help me be more friendly with Arachne. Do we have any cloves?” Asked Seraphina.

“Cloves?” I asked, confused. How would that help Arachne like her? “Glissa? I thought you couldn’t use magic.”

“I can’t,” confirmed Glissa with a smile, “but I’m good at making friends without it.”

“Look. There’s a spell here to convert an enemy and it needs cloves,” explained Seraphina. “I don’t know if she’s my enemy per se, but it can’t hurt to try, right? There’s another one that uses a jar and some honey, what about a brown candle? What’s vervain? Oh, what about rose quartz? I might try them all. Drow have resistance against magic, you know.”

“Hmm, you’re really trying, aren’t you? I have some good news for you. I got my hands on something even better than all of those combined. One sec.” I got up and came back a moment later with a bottle and a glass.

Seraphina looked at the bottle I handed her. “What’s this?”

“Green fungus wine. From the underdark. Don’t ask me how I got it, but trust me, Arachne will love it. She always complains about the red and white wines us humans make when she drinks it. It’s something from back home that she misses. Give it to her, and this glass. She’ll love that, too. This will get you in the door, I know it. Give her some compliments and don’t leave.”

Veyronna laughed. “Get her drunk! Classic.”

“No, no,” defended Glissa. “People like gifts. Arachne will associate the pleasurable experience of drinking something she misses with Seraphina. And, who doesn’t like a genuine compliment? Do make sure they’re genuine or they could have the exact opposite effect we’re looking for.”

“Well, I have nothing to lose. I’ll give it a shot. Hopefully she’ll let me in,” said Seraphina, suddenly nervous.

“Just tell her what you have. She’ll let you in,” I told her, putting my arm around her and giving her shoulder a motivating squeeze.

Seraphina took a deep breath and got up from the couch to head up stairs with the wine and bottle in hand. She found the door to the bedroom slightly ajar and could see Arachne on the bed. She knocked. “Arachne? Hey, I have something for you. Can I come in?”

“Ugh. What is it? It better be good,” replied the drow, looking up from her phone.

Seraphina entered the room and walked over to the side of the bed.

“It’s fungus wine, from the Underdark. Green wine,” she said nervously, clutching it tightly.

“What? How did you- Nevermind. Give it here! That looks like a bottle from House Ulaver! Impossible!” Arachne grabbed the bottle and quickly uncorked it and poured herself a glass.

“By Lolth’s eighth leg! This is exactly as I remember it!” Gasped Arachne as she leaned back in bliss.

“I’m really glad you like it,” said Seraphina with a smile.

Arachne drank some more, draining the glass she’d poured. “Oh, that’s so good… It’s like I’m back in Menzoberranzan. You must tell me how you got it!”

Seraphina swallowed and looked down in shame. She couldn’t try and start a friendship with a lie. “I must be honest with you, Agent gave it to me to give to you. He thinks about you a lot. You’re a lucky elf.”

Arachne poured some more wine. “Yes I am. He’d do anything for me. So how did he…?” She wondered, vowing to question Agent later.

“It’s a nice room you’ve got here. The whole thing is like a shrine to you! You look lovely in those photos and you’ve got all this nice stuff. Did you bring any of this stuff from home?” asked Seraphina.

“No… Agent got it all for me. Drow things don’t do well in the sunlight. Agent found it all for me. The swords, a statue of Lolth, so much beautiful clothing…”

“Oh! Can I look at it?” Seraphina asked.

“Yeah, sure. The chest of drawers and closet is full of it. Don’t get jealous.”

“I’ll try not to!” Seraphina promised as she walked over to the chest of drawers first. She opened a drawer and looked at everything inside. “Oh wow! Look at it all! So organized and -oh! So shiny!”

“Yeah, well, you should see the dress it goes with,” replied Arachne.

“I hope I will! Wow! Okay, but first…”

Seraphina looked in the next drawer. “So many accessories! Oh, can you imagine?” She asked as she held up a chain and leather piece to her chest.

Arachne stifled a chuckle to avoid losing some precious wine from her mouth as she took another sip. “I don’t have to, but I bet Agent can. He loves it when I wear that sort of thing, and I love wearing it.”

Seraphina put the harness away, her heart rate elevated. She’d never seen such a thing!

Seraphina moved to the closet. “Oh, you weren’t kidding! Look at all this stuff! He really does spoil you! Is this the dress? Oh my, it’s metal! And yet, it flows? Magical! And yet, so heavy. I guess it’s not meant to be practical or it would be mithral. Still, it’s beautiful!”

“It’s a human party dress. This realm doesn’t have mithral, sadly,” lamented Arachne. “It wouldn’t last a minute, but it kills on the dance floor!”

Seraphina giggled as she put the strange dress back. “So many blacks! What’s this? It doesn’t fit in with the others,” commented Seraphina. “Oh, but it’s so cute! Do you wear it often?”

“More than you might think. Despite how much he likes all the black stuff, he really likes that dress too. Sometimes he gets me to wear that hat on the shelf beside your chest of drawers. He calls it a pith helmet. I don’t get it, but with everything he does for me… Sometimes I play along,” Arachne smiled before sipping more wine.

Seraphina smiled as she glanced at the odd helmet. This was going so well! Arachne had even acknowledged that this was her chest of drawers! She tried not to act too elated.

She put the dress back and moved to the other side of the closet. “Oh, this looks like Agent’s stuff, but these must be your dresses. This spider one is adorable!”

“It’s one of my favorites. It fits me so perfectly!”

“Ha ha! Look at this one! It’s a skeleton!”

Arachne looked at the wine bottle. She’d nearly gone through half of it already. The kind gesture had put her in a good mood, or maybe it was the wine.

“Put it on,” said Arachne, sealing the wine bottle and setting it safely aside. As much as she wanted to keep drinking it she didn’t want to go through all of a good thing in one sitting.

“What?”

“You heard me. Put it on. You want to have fun in the photo contests, right? Agent needs something for a Shadows contest and it’s almost Halloween. Got any ideas? Certainly we can do something with a skeleton elf. It’s stretchy. It should fit you,” said the drow as she got up from the bed.

“But it’s your dress. Are you sure?” Asked Seraphina, getting a little nervous.

“Of course!” Replied Arachne.

After awhile I decided to come up and check on the elves. I hadn’t heard any signs of a struggle. No banging, no yelling. I wasn’t sure, but I thought I may have even heard some laughter.

I peered through the gap in the door and was confused to see clothing on the bed, both Seraphina’s green dress and the athletic wear Arachne had been wearing. The room was kind of dark.

“Uh, ladies? Everything alright in there?” I asked with a small knock.

“Hey Agent! Come in!” Called out Arachne Happily.

I entered the room and was surprised by what I saw.

“Seraphina had an idea for the Shadow contest. Get your camera out!”

Seraphina giggled. “It’s something I used to do as a kid. Mine’s a rabbit! I’m not sure what Arachne’s is…”

“Oh, mine’s an errdegahr, a demon. Did you get it, Agent?” asked Arachne.

“I did! It looks good, ladies. So… How are things going?” I asked.

“Well, this might just be the wine talking, but… She might be okay,” replied Arachne, putting her hand on Seraphina’s shoulder. “I guess she can stay.”

Seraphina clapped her hands happily. “Oh yay! I knew we’d be friends!”

“That’s wonderful! I wasn’t sure what to think when I looked through the door and saw your clothes on the bed…”

“You’re going to have to get me more wine for that,” smirked Arachne. “…There is going to be more of the wine, right? Oh, and she’s a little… Shy. I suspect that will change if she hangs out with me!”

“That wasn’t easy to get, but I’ll try my best. You know I always do that for you.”

“I’m not wearing any underwear because it would ruin the lines of the dress! Arachne taught me that,” Seraphina said, a little sheepishly.

“I do love the dresses, ladies. Very in season with Halloween coming up! Most of all, I’m glad you’re having fun together!”
