Great work man!
Thanks @Billiam for the nice comment! Well, the build part of it is pretty much done. Now comes the eye candy part…….painting with all the hardware installed. Gonna take a few days off of this and hang out with my gals….take some photos of them.
And cruise over to your topic thread to check out your gorgeous gals!
Happy Dolling!
Amazing job, K! Incredible. Have a good time with the girls, you deserve it!
Good evening all! I KNOW I said I would NOT work on the transport cabinet (AND I DIDN’T!) but I DID pick up the paint for the thing! I am going with an ivory satin for the body, and a high gloss dark brown finish for the top. The knobs I have for the doors are a dark brown burnished style, so it should look okay. I hope to be back on this Friday. I will disassemble the thing for painting, so I will likely not post many photos of that…..(I mean, like, it’s just painting!) I will leave it disassembled for the move to the gals ready room. I WILL show the installation of the finish hardware, and the demonstration of putting two of my gals in it. Maybe do a video slide show of that demonstration. Regardless…….I hope to put this to bed by Sunday. I already have in my head the next project…….a single doll companion private storage option that is WAY easier to build. I already have all the materials on hand for that, so should go pretty quickly.
Anywho, that’s where things sit at the moment.
Happy Holidays and Happy Dolling!
……..sigh………I know I said I wasn’t gonna work on the transport cabinet today……..but sometimes things just happen! ![]()
I had to bail out my son in law (not from jail!
) to do a materials pickup at Lowe’s for him. He was gonna borrow my trailer and had a friend on tap, but the friend jumped ship on him, so I got tagged! AND SINCE I HAD TO GO TO THE SHOP WITH THIS STUFF…………well, as I was THERE and all………..I went ahead and did the initial prep for painting. Here is the cabinet in it’s disassembled state. I designed it this way to make it as light and easy as possible to move around. Each part just unclips and is removable.
So, when I want to move it from the shop to the house or put it in a trailer to transport my gals, it can break down like this and each part is easily managed. The only thing I had to actually unscrew were the tray and door support cables. With the heavier duty glides installed, I will probably not need the tray support anymore, but I’ll see when I do the final test.
Happy Dolling!
And a good evening to you all! Hope your day has been a good one.
As for me……………………
I FINISHED THE TRANSPORT/STORAGE CABINET!![]()
Here’s where it’s at…
These are the parts getting some paint.
Got the back and side inner panels on it.
And then put the knobs on the false doors and reassembled it.
I’m gonna let it set overnight and dry completely before I break it back down to move it to the gal’s ready room. I already moved the two trays…..they were dry enough.
So tomorrow, or Sunday, I’ll have it set up where it’s gonna sit, and do the final test with 2 of my gals.
For now, I’m gonna go sh*t, shower and shave, get something to eat and kick back and chill!
Happy Holidays, and Happy Dolling!
Looks beautiful

Thank you very much @Mr_Fix_it ! Now, just gotta make sure it does what it’s supposed to do. Hopefully, that will be tomorrow.
Happy Holidays to you and yours, and Happy Dolling!
Serious craftsmanship there, K!
Thanks @quillurion for the nice comment! I might have said this before, but I designed and built high end cabinets and was the shop supervisor for almost 13 years. Some runs consisted of up to 125 individual cabinets, some specialty (hidden room anyone?
) So, this one was pretty basic for me to build. I just had to blow the dust off my brain pan to build it. I would call it a Utility Room or Laundry room cabinet……no big deal!![]()
Happy Holidays, and Happy Dolling!
Ahhhh that explains a lot! Well dusted and done. ![]()
Fine work man!
Evening all! Well, I had a plan………move the transport/storage cabinet and test to see if it will transport and setup easily. And then do the final test and put 2 of my gals in it to ensure it will do what it was designed to do.
Did the move, but not the load test. I was involved in a zoom meeting (that I completely forgot about for a chunk of the evening!) But here is the move and setup photos.
Disassembled the cabinet and loaded in my truck bed for the move from the workshop to the house. All the individual parts are not heavy and easily loaded.
On hand were the girls to supervise me in the assembly!
Then I assembled the frame, side stabilizers, bottom door and tray, upper door and tray, and then the top.
In the upper storage tray are the two patient lift slings, 2 microfiber blankets, the head/neck cushions and straps.
Here’s the memory foam pads on the trays and it’s look in its new home!
So it passed the first test! Easy to break down, move and setup!
Now up comes the final test. Might do that later tonight or tomorrow. But, so far, so good!
Happy Dolling!
That looks fantastic. Well done, K. Did the girls approve of the setup yet?
That is super cool.
Thanks @quillurion and @DocWen for the nice words! Well, I did the final test. Freya (103 lbs) and Angie (96 lbs) go tagged for the test.
First up, Freya.
Then Angie
And here are my two gals relaxing.
And the cabinet closed up.
So, the cabinet was stable throughout this process, even with my gal on the tray and fully extended. The trays moved in and out with my gals on them smoothly. So……….I count this one as a win! I will do a full detailed review and info post later today. I will be a bit busy doing some other stuff this morning!
Happy Dolling!
That’s fantastic. Congratulations and yes, this is a win.
Happy dolling, K.
Excellent,
I like the sling idea as well. Only thing I might suggest is thicker memory foam for the girls to lay on. We wouldn’t want to create the flat butt issue. ![]()
Thanks for the nice words @Mr_Fix_it ! And your recommendation on thicker foam is spot on! I will be doubling up the foam pads to 4 inch thick. I have the foam already so that’s easy to do.
I didn’t put the microfiber blanket on them or put some memory foam pads under the small of their backs and thighs for this first test. My main goal was to ensure the cabinet was stable and the trays held the weight and operated smoothly. I plan on testing this in a trailer to verify security of the trays when driving on roads. So far, everything checks out. More tests are on the docket.
Happy Dolling!
Alrighty then! I implemented @Mr_Fix_it ‘s recommendation on increasing the memory foam thickness. It is now 4 inch thick. And I released Freya and Angie from their temporary cocoon and all is well!
That was fun, K………but………..
……we’re not going to make this a habit, right, K??
Nope! You guys did great, but…..
Like Freya said, K…………it was………different……but…….
…….I would MUCH rather be out and about, K!!!
Not to worry girls! This is what I am gonna use this for!
ANOTHER place to store you guys’ clothing and accessories!
So,…………I’m gonna spend some time sorting and organizing the girl’s stuff and figure out what’s going where! But that’s it for 2025! No more projects til next year!
Oh…….and because this monster cabinet wiped out the girls’ coffee niche, it needed to be moved to the ready room. So now, the girls’ have TWO dedicated rooms!
Happy Holidays and Happy Dolling!
